Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Bates County

On March 30th a Sergeant conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy S10 for displaying the wrong license plates. 

The driver of the vehicle, John Justice Petty, advised the Sergeant he did not have insurance and the license plates belonged to his car. Petty stated that he had firearms inside pickup. 

He also told the Sergeant there was meth, weed and pipes inside the vehicle. The Sergeant searched the truck and located approximately 3.1 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 24 grams of marijuana. Drug paraphernalia was also located inside the vehicle.

Petty (DOB 10/17/1995) was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond was set at $25,000.00 cash only. He is currently being held in the Bates County Jail.

More charges are expected to be filed for Unlawful use of a Firearm by Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Obituary - Robert J. "Bob" Clawson

 Robert J. "Bob" Clawson
Robert J. "Bob" Clawson, 91, of Strasburg, departed this life, Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg.

Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the funeral home. Graveside military services and interment will follow in the Strasburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Strasburg Cemetery.

Another big night for Drexel FFA


Another great night for the Drexel FFA Chapter as they traveled to Warrensburg High School and competed in District Leadership Development Events. When the results had been tallied and posted these committed students had placed as follows: Sara Gammon, Paul Orton, Haley Collins, Alyssa Sosa, Questen Poole, and Jonah Hatten competed on the Parliamentary Procedure Team and placed 6th overall; Kenzie Winfield, Makenna Finley, and Logan Cochran competed on the FFA Knowledge contest and placed 10th (out of 31 teams), and Sara Gammon placed 2nd overall in her Advanced Public Speaking event. Clinton man arrested in Henry County

On 4/2/17 around 9:15am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County arrested 21 year old Jaden Harvey of Clinton, Missouri.

Mr. Harvey was arrested for 1.) Property Damage - 2nd Degree.

He was booked into the Henry County Jail and later bonded out.

Well let's be glad the boys of summer are starting on the road because if they were home this one could be a rainout! Expect showers through the day today. The stormy pattern we have been in will continue Tuesday as strong storms may be possible Tuesday night. Small hail and gusty winds may be possible with these storms south of Interstate 70.
