Phyllis Emma (Cromer) Ross was born March 7, 1949 in Mound City, Kansas, daughter of Frank and Pat (Hart) Cromer. She was a graduate of Mound City High School. After attending junior college in Fort Scott she gained employment at the Kansas City Life Insurance Company in Kansas City, Missouri. She met her husband-to-be while visiting a friend in Butler, Missouri. Phyllis and Rusty had a brief courtship before Rusty was drafted into the Army.

Shortly after Rusty’s basic training Phyllis and Rusty were married in the Catholic church in Mound City. After Rusty came home from Vietnam Phyllis and he settled in Butler and Rusty went into business at Vit-A-Zine, Inc., with his father George Ross. Phyllis was employed by the F.D.A. at the Farm Service office in Butler and retired after 20 years of service.

Rusty and Phyllis would have been married 48 years on May 31 of this year. Phyllis’s greatest asset was her personality. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and just as loving and caring of her friends.
