Miami County Sheriff says goodbye to loyal K-9


From the Miami County Sheriff's Office on Monday:

"It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce that retired Miami County Sheriff K-9 Fuego had to be put down this afternoon due to medical issues. He was an important part of the Sheriff's Office family, and will be missed. Special thanks to all who came out to say goodbye."

Osceola teen seriously injured in St.Clair County Crash

On 4/5/17 around 3;15pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 82 Highway around 100 yards South of Osceola, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Buick Lucerne driven by 16 year old Jakob T. Edwards of Osceola, Missouri pulled into the the path and struck the 2011 Dodge 4500 driven by 30 year old David L. Williams of Eudora, Kansas.

Mr. Edwards sustained serious injuires in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri for treatment.

The Buick was totaled and towed from the scene by Bray's Towing of Osceola.

Missouri Missing Adult Angie Hammond

Angela Marie "Angie" Hammond was last seen by her boyfriend at approximately 10 p.m. on April 4, 1991, as Angie dropped hi off at this home in Clinton, MO following a date. Angie later called her boyfriend from a pay phone in downtown Clinton at 11:15 p.m. During the conversation, Angie spoke of an older model two-tone green truck with a fishing mural on the rear window that kept circling the block. Angie then said the truck stopped and a bearded man in coveralls got out of the truck and was coming towards her in the phone booth. Angie screamed, and the line went dead. Angie's boyfriend told authorities he drove to the scene and was passed by the same two-tone green truck. Angie screamed his name as the truck sped by and left town. Angie has not been seen since.

Water Hydrants being flushed in Butler

The Butler Fire Department is assisting the City of Butler Crews in flushing water hydrants tonight and tomorrow. This could cause your water pressure to be low for a unknown amount of time.





Henry County Sheriff's Office staff attended two day training event

Henry County Sheriff's Office staff attended a two day training to become instructors in teaching less lethal weapons. The training involved OC spray, CN gas, and bean bag/rubber pellet shotgun rounds. Pictured are Deputy Hodges, Major Hills and Sgt. Fenner. They will now be able to teach these techniques to our staff and other agencies as may be needed.






Obituary - John Loane

John Loane, 75, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

John was born October 25, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the son of Frank and Maude (Smith) Loane. He moved to Kansas City as a young child and later to Nevada where he attended Nevada High School. He worked in several local full service filling stations before becoming a plumber. He worked for Thorpe Plumbing for many years. He married Barbara Schuman of Appleton City and the couple lived in Nevada for years before moving to El Dorado Springs. John was quite the deer hunter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, and NASCAR. He was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his grandchildren. John told his children that he had a confession to The Lord and had asked for forgiveness of his sins and shortcoming’s in life.

John was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; four sons, Shawn Loane, El Dorado Springs, David Loane (Kelly), El Dorado Springs, Timothy Loane (Rebecca), Stockton, James Loane (Tasha), El Dorado Springs; twelve grandchildren, Colton Loane (Shelby), Shelbie Loane, Sabrina Holmes (Michael), Bethany Loane, Mary Loane, Clayton Loane, Jessa Loane, Ashley Loane, Candice Loane, Mikayla Loane, Sawyer Williams, and Blake Loane; one great-grandchild, Emory Grace Loane; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and special friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs with Dennis Johnston officiating.








Victim Identified in Cass County Search

Jessica Runions 
CASS CO – This evening the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified one of the two victims found in Cass County as Jessica Runions.  

Detectives with Kansas City Police Department notified the family shortly after confirming the identity.

The remains of the second victim has not been identified.

Investigators will resume a search of the area near 233rd and Y Hwy in the morning.  

Numerous agencies from around the area will participate in the search which is expected to involve nearly 100 investigators.

Obituary - Lena Faye England

Lena Faye England, 75, Rich Hill, MO passed from this life on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at her home in Rich Hill. Lena was born August 21, 1941 in Appleton City, MO to Clarence L. and Elma (Simmons) Davis.

Lena attended Schell City High School and graduated Class of 1959. After high school she went to work in Kansas City and married her high school sweetheart John England on June 29, 1962. The couple lived in California for a year before returning to Kansas City, KS. Lena worked for Hallmark Cards, and Sunset Plastics in Lenexa, KS. The couple moved to Rich Hill about 42 years ago. She worked at Russell Stover and later for Mr. Longarm in Butler, retiring in 2007. She loved to play bingo, playing board games, and bowling with her sisters and children.

Survivors include her husband John of the home; her children, Debbie Hayes (Rand) Lufkin, TX, Sheila Ramsey (Mark), Kansas City, KS, Dana Ellis (Curtis), Kansas City, KS, John Lenard England (Fran), Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Randall Hayes, Michael Moore, Sarah Moore, Mark Cook, Kaylea Monahan; great-grandchildren, Jayce Jordan, Kaiden Cook, Payton Cook; three sisters, Shirley Moore, El Dorado Springs, MO, Sharon Robinson, Schell City, MO, Kaye Reasoner (Darrell), Harwood, MO; one brother, Dennis L. Davis (Fran), Alvarado, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Brian Moore, and Tyler Cook; one brother, Ray Davis; and an infant sister, Karen Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 in the Ferry Funeral Home Chapel in Nevada, MO with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
