Lowry City man injured in Henry County crash
On 4/12/17 around 1:25pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County responded to a one vehicle accident in the Northbound Lanes of Missouri 13 just north of SE CR 1100 in rural Henry County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2000 Chrysler driven by 44 year old Andrew R. Johnson of Lowry City, Missouri had a defective tire which caused the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway.
Mr. Johnson sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
The vehicle received minor damages and it was towed from the scene by Mike Robert's Tire Shop of Lowry City, Missouri.

Adrian man injured in Cass County motorcycle accident
On 4/12/17 around 5:25pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a one vehicle motorcycle accident on Missouri 2 Highway just west of Lincoln Road in rural Cass County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2006 Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven by 38 year old Jason T. McCammon of Adrian, Missouri laid his bike down to attempt to avoid a collision with a slowing vehicle.
Mr. McCammon sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, Missouri for treatment.
The bike received extensive damages in this accident and it was towed from the scene by Johnson's Tow.

Charles Edwin Smith, age 80 of Amsterdam, Missouri died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri. He was born January 11, 1937 to Hiram Earl and Effie Elsie Close Smith in Butler, Missouri.
Charles is survived by his wife, Alberta Smith of Amsterdam, Missouri; a daughter, Crystal Cox and husband Wade of Lee's Summit, Missouri; two brothers, Paul Smith of Butler, Missouri and Robert Smith of Chanute, Kansas; two sisters, Helen Elliott of New Orleans, Louisiana and Elsie Bolser of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Jordan Wade Cox and Melody Beth Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve Smith; daughter, Melody Smith; three sisters, Ann Alexander, Pauline Polaski and Dorothy Walden; and a brother, Tom Smith.

Officers located and seized illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.The investigation resulted in the arrests of Falen M. Andrews, 34, of El Dorado Springs, at the residence, charging her with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was later released of summonses.
As a result of the investigation Cedar County Deputies, assisted by El Dorado Springs Officers, conducted an investigative stop of a blue Jeep Cherokee related to this incident. The stop resulted in the arrests of Shayla G. Sloan, 22, of El Dorado Springs, charging her with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and an active El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrant, charging her with Failure to Appear with a $75.50 bond; Lawrence L. Hill, Jr, 51, of El Dorado Springs, charging him with Possession of Marijuana, Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance; Leslie C. Houts, 47, of El Dorado Springs, charging him with Possession Drug Paraphernalia, active El Dorado Springs Municipal Court Warrant, charging him with Failure to Appear on the original charges of Driving While Suspended with a bond of $275.50 and a Cedar County Warrant, charging him with Failure to Appear on the original charges of Possession of Marijuana, Driving While Suspended and Seat Belt Violation with a $500.00 cash only bond, and Jessica A. Haslock, 29, of Stockton, charging her with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Officers completed a probable cause statement for Lawrence Hill for the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Keeping and Maintaining a Public Nuisance, and Possession of Amphetamine Drug Paraphernalia. Officers received a Cedar County Warrant charging Hill with a Class D Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Class E Felony of Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance with a bond of $15,000.00 cash only.
Officers also completed a probable cause statement for Haslock for the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Amphetamine Drug Paraphernalia.
Officers received a Cedar County Warrant charging Haslock with a Class D Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance with a $15,000.00 bond.
Haslock, Hill and Houts were transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and court appearances.

Obituary - Anthony D. Barnes
Anthony D. Barnes, 31, Milo, MO passed from this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 following a long battle with Epilepsy. Anthony was born March 4, 1986 in Nevada, MO to Tony Lee Barnes and Marlo Michelle “Missy” Householder.
Anthony was raised in Bronaugh and Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1995. Anthony has lived the past five years in Milo. He enjoyed fishing, video games, volleyball, time spent playing basketball and games with his nephews, and hunting and spending time with his family. He loved to watch wrestling with his buddy Marty. Anthony never left his mother’s side the past 31 years. He was a very loving and fun loving guy who liked to make people laugh.
He is survived by his mother, Missy Householder of the home; his father, Tony Barnes of Nevada; one brother Christopher Barnes; four sisters, Deborah Rogers, Megan Rye, BreAnna Householder, Emily Burrus; grandmother, Elaine Mitts, Milo; great-grandmother, Ruby Craft, Milo; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Milo Baptist Church in Milo, MO with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Milo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Roberta Jane Harrison age 84, of Independence, Missouri (formerly of Butler) died April 11, 2017 at her home in Independence. She was born July 1, 1932 to Charles "Bub" Elmer and Ruth Elizabeth Hughes Shubert in Altona, Missouri.
Roberta is survived by two sons, Mark Harrison and wife Kim of Colleyville, Texas and Cliff Harrison and wife Kelli of Harrisonville, Missouri; two daughters, Shannon Harrison of Independence, Missouri and Staci Moran of Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers, Carl and Herman Shubert of Butler, and Claude “Wimp” Shubert and wife Judy of Middleton, Idaho; one sister, Judy Colburn and husband Lyndell of Butler. Roberta is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Raymond Dale Harrison in 1982.
