Promgoers: A slight change in plans

HD Photo has announced that due to rain, photos will be taken at the Union Restaurant in Butler, as they have a nice brick wall as a backdrop- and more importantly, it's inside.

Time will be from 1 to 4:45 pm to accommodate couples from both Miami and Butler schools. Cost is $30.

Miami will have couples park by the north end of the school and enter the doors by the preschool room and promenade down the hallway through the cafeteria.

Butler promenade will begin at 4 pm in the high school gymnasuim  and all guests are asked to arrive by 4 pm and plan to stay until buses depart at approximately 5:30. Buses are expected to return by midnight.




Turn in unused drugs until 2 pm today

Don't flush or throw away unused or unwanted prescription drugs- you can safely have them disposed of by dropping off at the Bates County Health Center today until 2 pm.

The Bates County Health Center is located at 501 N. Orange st. in Butler.





Lightning strike leaves hole in highway

The Missouri Highway Patrol posted this picture earlier today on Twitter, showing the true power of a lightning strike. It happened on the shoulder of I-49 in northern Bates County. Fortunately, there was no adjacent property damage and no injuries to passers by.



Rain...and lots of it

Flooding will be a major concern as the day progresses, current radar shows a continual flow of inbound moisture from the southwest.

There is a lot going on in the area today- plan accordingly and remember to NEVER drive through running water.

Highlights from Butler C of C Cruise Night

Despite a threat of showers, about 15 cars made it to Sonic for the first annual Cruise Night of 2017. Plan ahead for cruise nights the fourth Friday of the month through Summer.
