Arrest warrant issued for Osceola man

On May 23, an arrest warrant was issued for John Wood, 48, Osceola, charging him with failing to appear in court on an infraction of trespassing-second degree. Bond is set at $250 cash only.

The charge stems from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation on Jan. 13 when Lynette and Susanne Bullock observed Wood exit the wooded area of their property on NE 60 Road, Osceola. 

The bullock’s stated Wood entered the yard and then got into a green 1997 Ford Mustang parked in the driveway and left the property. Wood did not have permission to be on the property.

Collins man facing several charges after incident on May 27

On May 27, Clint Wilkerson Sr., 45, Collins, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class D felony domestic assault-second degree and class B misdemeanor property damage second degree. Bond is set at $20,000 cash or surety.

The charges stem from a St. Clair County investigation the same day when deputies took a report of assault from a female victim at Wilkerson’s residence on SE 871 Road, Collins. 

She stated she woke up and Wilkerson was choking her. The female stated when she attempted to leave the property Wilkerson flattened three of the tires by cutting the valve stems. 

Mr. Wilkerson was taken into custody and transported to the St. Clair County Jail.






Amsterdam man arrested for tampering with a motor vehicle

On May 21, 2017 a Deputy was dispatched to a residence on County Road 14002 in regards to a possible vehicle theft. 

A witness noticed two men rummaging through a car on the property. The two subjects soon left the property and took some clothes and cufflinks out of the car that were estimated to have a $900.00 value. 

The witness was shown photos of two subjects who were suspected of multiple burglaries in the area. The witness was able to identify one of the men in the photos as the man that was seen rummaging through the car.

The vehicle was dusted for fingerprints and photos were taken. An area canvass was conducted with one person stating that they had seen some suspicious activity the morning of the theft.

On May 25, 2017, Detectives took Lance Utech into custody for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle. His bond was set at $4500.00 cash or surety.








Suspicious vehicle in rural Adrian leads to arrest

On May 22, 2017 Deputies received a call for a suspicious vehicle that was sitting south of the intersection of FF and County Road 7501. 

A Sergeant responded to the location and made contact with the driver of the car who was standing outside the vehicle. 

A search of the vehicle was conducted. The Sergeant located a pipe that field tested positive for methamphetamine. He also located a pink pill that was identified as Oxycodone.

The subject, Brian Scrogham (DOB 2/19/1986), was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance except 35 grams or less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid. His bond was set at $20,000.00 cash or surety.

Scrogham is currently being held in the Bates County Jail.




Amsterdam woman arrested after traffic stop

On May 25, 2017 Detectives conducted a traffic stop on County Road 13501. The vehicle did not have a license plate on it. 

The driver was identified as Melissa Mae Lane (DOB 12/6/1989) of Amsterdam, MO. While searching her vehicle Detectives found a small plastic bag with a white crystal substance in it. They also found a set of scales. Both items field tested positive for methamphetamine. 

Melissa Lane was transported to the Bates County Jail and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance except 35 grams or less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid and for Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $10000.00 cash or surety.




Deadly shooting south of Wheatland, Missouri

The Hickory County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting near Galmey, on the west side of Pomme de Terre Lake, south of Wheatland.

Investigators say Robert Terrell, 39, of Wheatland was shot by a high powered rifle. It happened during a domestic dispute about 6 p.m. Monday.

The sheriff says there is no danger to the public at this time and they are currently speaking with a juvenile at this time.

Update: Another charged after last week's traffic stop in Bates County

In the early morning hours of May 22, 2017 a Deputy conducted a traffic stop. The passenger in the vehicle identified herself as Kasey Hogan (DOB 8/31/1985). Hogan had two warrants from City of Butler for failure to appear on traffic charges. Hogan was placed under arrest.

The driver of the vehicle advised the Deputy she had two needles in her purse that she used for meth. During the Deputy’s search of her purse he located a tablespoon that had a white crystal substance on it and the two needles. The driver was placed on a 24 hour investigative hold.

Both subjects were transported to the Bates County Jail.

Update:
The driver of this vehicle, identified as Tricia Werneke, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance except 35 grams or less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid. Her bond was set at $10000.00 cash or surety. Werneke is currently being held in the Bates County Jail.




Bates County Route B Bridge Over Spring Branch Near Rich Hill CLOSED Beginning Week of May 30

Bates County – The Bates County Route B bridge over Spring Branch east of Rich Hill will be CLOSED for up to 65 days beginning the week of May 30, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will replace the old bridge with a new structure, which will be four feet wider than the current bridge.

Drivers can get to entrances on either side of the bridge.  However, they will not be able to cross the bridge during construction. Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the bridge closing.

Drivers are urged to find alternate routes during the bridge project. No signed detour is planned. Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.

Project background:

·         Completion Date: September 1, 2017 (however, the contractor expects to be finished well before that date)
·         Total project cost: $800,000
