Harrisonville Electric Department Receives “Certificate of Excellence” for Reliable Performance during 2016
[Harrisonville, MO] -- The City of Harrisonville Electric Department is one of eight Missouri municipal utilities to be honored by the American Public Power Association for reliable performance during 2016.
The awards were presented June 8 at a quarterly meeting of the Missouri Public Utility Association in Columbia, where City Administrator Happy Welch accepted the Certificate of Excellence for the local electric department. Honored along with Harrisonville were utilities in the cities of Chillicothe, Higginsville, Jackson, Macon, Marshall, Rolla and Trenton. Nationwide, 121 public power utilities were honored for high standards of electric service.
“We’re delighted to be recognized again for our reliability,” said Mr. Welch. “Our electric staff puts in a lot of hard work to serve our community and maintain a reliable system. Supporting their efforts, all of the current and previous Mayors, Aldermen, City Administrators and city staff also played a part in this fine achievement.”
To be eligible for the award, the city’s electric department kept track of their outage and restoration data, which was then gathered and compared to national statistics tracked by the U.S. Energy Information Administration for all types of electric utilities. Those who placed in the top 25 percent of reliability nationwide, as measured against the national data, received the certificate of excellence.
