Is everyone excited for the fireworks tomorrow? We know we are!

A couple reminders about the show tomorrow. Parts of Ash will be closed in order to facilitate everyone leaving the park after the fireworks conclude (approximately 1015-1030). If you leave on Bluegill you will only be able to make a right onto Ash.

If you leave from Sunny Swim you will be able to make a left on Ash or continue straight onto Bradley. The exact time Ash will be closed has not been set yet but will probably be when the parking fills up in that area.

If you park in-between Bradley and Bluegill we will be letting cars go in groups to make it as smooth as possible. Please plan your route accordingly.

Also, please remember the only fireworks allowed in the park are the ones from the official display. All other fireworks are prohibited and might be confiscated if they are found in use. Please leave them at home so you can light them off there.

Thanks and enjoy the show!

Don't ruin your 4th of July by drinking and driving

From the Linn County Emergency Management

Linn County Emergency Management met with the NWS on Friday afternoon to discuss the storm damage early Friday morning near Pleasanton and the overturned semi near the La Cygne exit on US 69. After reviewing the photos of the damage west of Pleasanton the NWS felt we had a unidirectional microburst or gustnado type event.

We typically think of a microburst as an event that radiates strong, damaging winds out in all directions from its center. This is true for single cell thunderstorms, however, when this occurs in a multicell squall line thunderstorm the winds can be directed in a single direction as occurred on Friday morning.

The other possibility is a gustnado which is a strong whirlwind at the leading edge of a storm front or squall line. Gustnado's are usually very short-lived.

In either case the wind speeds were likely above 80 MPH.

New Ambulance will Promote Comfort & Safety for Patients and EMS Personnel

There’s a new medic in town.

Harrisonville Emergency Services Medic 1, the newest ambulance in the EMS fleet, rolled into town June 28, carrying the latest in technology to make patient transport a gentler and safer experience for all involved.

Technically speaking, Medic 1 is a 2017 Ford F450 Super Duty 4X4 Wheeled Coach. It has a diesel engine and a “Liquid Springs” hydraulic suspension to cushion the ride. Inside the cabin, a Stryker Power Pro patient bed, a top of the line cot and rail system, promotes the comfort and safety of patients being transported while also reducing the risk of injury to ambulance personnel.

Harrisonville EMS took bids on the new ambulance earlier this year and determined Feld Fire to be the lowest and best bidder with a price of $207,999. Feld Fire is based in Carroll, Iowa with offices and a service center in Grain Valley. The proximity of the service center was an added plus in making the determination to go with Feld Fire.

The vehicle was assembled in the Feld Fire factory in Winter Park, Florida where the specialized rail which aids in loading the cot was also installed. Using an innovative battery-powered hydraulic system, it can raise and lower the cot at the touch of a button and smoothly load it into the cabin, locking it securely in place for the transport. This is a more comfortable lift and load process for the patient and reduces the risk of injury to the emergency medical personnel.
