Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made 10 warrant arrests and took reports of littering, stolen vehicles, and a stolen handgun during the week of July 24-31, 2017. There was also one Court Case Update.

Semi truck accident on Missouri 13 Highway in Henry County

The Clinton Fire Deportment along with Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers and Henry County Sheriff's Deputies is currently on the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer on the northbound lanes of 13 highway just north of Sparrowfoot.

As of now both northbound lanes of the highway are currently closed to all traffic as a result of this accident to allow crews to remove debris from the roadway.

Please avoid this area and find a alternate route.

STOLEN VEHICLE -- 2000 FORD F-150 XLT PICKUP TRUCK, white in color, bearing MO registration: 9KY-544. Vehicle last seen in the 200 block of E Street, Deepwater, at around 10:30 pm on Saturday, July 29th, 2017.

Obituary - James Warren Hartman

James Warren Hartman, 54, Carterville, MO, formerly of Nevada and Bronaugh, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. James was born March 25, 1963 in Lincoln, NE to James Wessley and Norma Mae (Crabtree) Hartman. He was united in marriage to Stephanie E. Curtis on June 11, 2016 in Nevada, MO and she survives of the home.

James was raised in the Bronaugh area and attended Bronaugh High School graduating with the Class of 1981. Following high school James worked for a number of years as an automobile mechanic. Later he operated his own D.J. and Karaoke business, and also a computer business “The Other Computer Guy”. James recently moved to Carterville from Nevada in March of 2017.

In addition to his wife Stephanie, survivors include three children, Samantha Wolfe and her husband Corey, Nevada, James Hartman, Jr., Nevada, and Anthony Hartman, Bronaugh; four grandchildren; his mother, Norma Wishon, Bronaugh; one sister, Leona Scott, Bronaugh; one brother, Mike Wishon, Nevada; and numerous nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Hartman, and one brother, Shane Hartman.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family in c/o Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.




Joplin woman arrested in Bates County

On 7/31/17 around 2:38pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 43 year old Correnna M. Gray of Joplin, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated - Persistent Offender.

Correnna M. Gray was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and placed on a 12 hour detox hold.

Funeral services for Everett Cummings will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

Visitation will be prior to services from 1-2 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri.

Everett Hiram Cummings, age 78 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born September 2, 1938 to Clifford Hiram and Louwilda Francile Baker Cummings.

Everett is survived by his daughter, Cathy Jo Cummings of Nevada, Missouri; two grandsons, Cobey Cummings and wife Shelby and CD Cummings and wife Julia, all of Amsterdam, Missouri; granddaughter, Jodey Barnhart and husband Todd of Nixa, Missouri; longtime companion Kay Ward of Butler, Missouri and her children Gregory Ward, Jeffrey Ward and Mike Ward and her grandchildren, Stephanie, Jacob, Hunter, Reagan, Brittney, Hannah, Kritter, Andrew, Matty, Mallory and Lexie; 10 grandchildren, Tanner, Jace, Lucas, Blaine, Josie, Kylee, Briana, Shelby, Selah Grace and Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jeffrey Cummings; daughter Janet Cummings; brother Bodie Cummings; and Kay’s son David Ward.
