Updated Obituary - Jerry Wayne Doll

 Jerry Wayne Doll
On July 30, 1946 Jerry Wayne Doll was born to Max F. and Margaret May (Ross) Doll at Clinton General Hospital, Clinton, Missouri. His first three years were spent as an only child, until June 27, 1949 when he became a big brother to Gary Ray. Their family would be complete, for now.

Jerry joined the Lucas United Methodist Church on September 24,
1959, where he remained a member until his death. He was proud of his church, enjoyed going to church, to worship with his friends and family.

He attended Urich Grade School and Urich High School for a total of 12 years. He graduated in May of 1964 and he was a member of the last graduating class of Urich High School. It was during his senior year in high school, he met the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. They were engaged on May 1, 1964 and on October 26, 1964, Jerry and Karen Dechman were united in marriage at Creighton, Mo., by Reverend John Harvey. They began their life together in the agriculture and dairy business. Jerry's first job was working for Mr. W.E. Hursey, Skyview Ranch, at Blairstown, Mo. He helped farm a section of land, raise Hereford cattle, hogs and put their own hay up for the livestock. Jerry loved livestock. It was while living here that their one and only child was born; a daughter, Jerri Lynn, January 31, 1967. It was at this time the Hursey's were moving to the Springfield area, Jerry didn't want to go with them, so he bought 7 Jersey cows and began to dairy on a small farm of Karen's mother's for a short while. Eventually, they moved south of Urich, and continued to expand their dairy. At one time he had one of the top Jersey herds in Missouri.

He continued his dairy and 250 sow hog operation until his health failed from a diagnosis January 5, 2006, of an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He began surgeries, radiation, and many kinds of treatments. People called him a trooper, a strong man, but life was not pleasant for him as cancer progressed. Due to health reasons he was forced to sell his dairy herd, hog operation, and milking goats. Jerry and Karen began throwing the Kansas City Star, having routes in Adrian, Archie, Lake Winnebago, and finally three years in Clinton. He met so many people on the Clinton route that became friends, some of them who sent encouraging cards at the rate of 1 or 2 a week.

He was proud to have celebrated his 50th Wedding Anniversary on October 26, 2014.

On January 17, 1988 his first grandchild, Krista Lynn Bramell was born. In 1994 on Christmas day, Austin Gene Chandler, the first grandson was born.

Some of Jerry's highlights of his life included seeing his two grandkids graduate from high school, Austin beginning college and everyone helping him move to his dorm, Krista's wedding, where Jerry felt honored to take Krista to the aisle where she would walk down, in a tractor while she was sitting in the bucket loader in her wedding dress, and on July 3, 2016 his first great-grandchild was born, a boy named after Jerry, Garrett Wayne.

One of Jerry's favorite quotes was "I like everybody, just some more than others". Jerry was a friend to everybody and everybody was a friend to him. Jerry loved Karen so much. She took such good care of him to the end.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 52 years; his daughter, Jerri Lynn (Glenn) Chandler, Creighton, Mo.; granddaughter, Krista (Michael) Gregory, Creighton, Mo.; and grandson, Austin Chandler, Creighton, Mo.; and three great-grandchildren, Colton, Clayton and Garrett Gregory, all of Creighton, Mo.; one brother, Gary Doll, Urich, Mo.; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and three sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Max; his mother, Margaret May; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Dechman, four uncles, Ralph Doll, Edward Doll, Elton Doll, and Wayne Ross; and cousins, Delbert Doll and Dallas Doll.

On July 29, 2017 Jerry passed away at the age of 70 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Lucas United Methodist Church, southwest of Urich, Mo. Interment will be in Mullin Cemetery, Urich, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Mullin Cemetery, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.
