Highway Commission to Meet Friday in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 4, in Springfield. The meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Library Center on South Campbell. The public is invited to attend.

Matt Morrow, President of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Tom Dancey of the City of Springfield and Marc Lewis from the Traffic Management Center of the Ozarks are scheduled to give a presentation.

“We are pleased to welcome the Commission to southwest Missouri,” said District Engineer Travis Koestner. “We are interested in sharing more about the area’s strong partnerships and its future transportation needs. We invite anyone who is interested to attend this meeting.”

Tractor fire in rural Miami County Kansas

Around 6:24 pm on 8/2/17 the Drexel Fire was dispatched to the 38000 block of Jingo Road in rural Miami County Kansas on a report of a farm tractor on fire. 

Upon arrival of the 1st unit the tractor was located with the cab area fully involved. 

The tractor is nearly a complete loss. Cause of the fire is undetermined but not suspicious in nature.

Rich Hill man arrested on warrant

Shawn Hagge
On 8/2/17 around 9:24am the Butler Police Department arrested 38 year old Shawn Hagge of Rich Hill, Missouri.

Mr. Hagge was arrested for 1.) Probation Violation Warrant.

He was booked into the Bates County Detention Center in Butler and he is currently being held on a $5,000 Cash Only bond.

A few summer showers

Currently monitoring some potential isolated severe weather that may impact the area, beginning Thursday after 2pm, into early Friday morning. 

The main associated impacts look to be possible damaging wind and large hail. High temperatures will remain in the upper 80's on Thursday, before dropping down to mid-70's by Friday afternoon and lasting through the weekend.

Come out to the 75th Annual Hume Fair

The 1st night of the 75th Annual Hume Fair is under our belt and we thank everyone for coming out.
