One vehicle accident on I-49

The Adrian Fire Department is in route to a one vehicle accident in the Northbound Lanes of I-49 at Mile Marker 145 which is just North of AA Highway Exit.

A white in color SUV is said to be of the roadway and the driver may of had a medical emergency which caused the wreck.

Drexel man arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle

On July 31st Deputies received an anonymous tip in reference to a wanted subject who was in possession of a stolen vehicle. 

Deputies responded to County Road 14001 in Drexel and made contact with Paul Ryerson (DOB 4/4/1990). Mr. Ryerson was standing next to a vehicle that came back stolen out of Kansas. 

Mr. Ryerson was taken into custody and transported to the Bates County Jail. He had a warrant out of Topeka, Kansas for Car Tampering in the 1st Degree that had no bond. More charges are expected to be filed against Ryerson.




Stolen truck in rural Archie

On August 4, 2017 a Deputy responded to County Road 243 in rural Archie, MO to take a report of a stolen vehicle. The owner of the vehicle stated that he had last seen it the night before when it was parked in his driveway. 

The stolen truck is a blue 2002 Ford F250. The Ford has a short bed and 4 doors with paint missing off of the hood. It is also missing the Ford emblem from the front grill.

Kansas City man arrested in Butler

On 8/7/17 around 8:18am the Butler Police Department arrested 34 year old Jerry A. Tippler Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri after a traffic stop in Butler.

Mr. Tippler was arrested for 1.) Felony Missouri Probation and Parole Warrant.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on no bond.





Butler Public Library safe viewing program

Join The Butler Public Library on Saturday August 12 from 10:00 - 11:30 am for a safe viewing program for the upcoming solar eclipse! Neta Apple, local high school science teacher with ties to NASA, will be sharing helpful information so we can fully enjoy this amazing experience.

Attendees will receive a pair of eclipse glasses. Any remaining glasses will be available to community members until supplies run out.

**Butler R-V elementary students will receive a pair of glasses at school. The library was pleased to be able to share a grant from StarNet with the local school district.





Update: Search continues for cop killer in Henry County

The Henry County Prosecutor has filed a 1st Degree Murder charger on 39 year old Ian McCarthy of Clinton, Missouri for the murder of Clinton Police Officer Gary Michael last night. Mr. McCarthy is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Obituary - Nancy (Hall) Gwin


Funeral services for Nancy (Hall) Gwin will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri.

Nancy Ann Gwin, age 87 of Butler, Missouri died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at her home in Butler. She was born October 7, 1930 to Chester Earl and Edna Lizzie Bell Ray Hall in Amsterdam, Missouri.

Nancy is survived by her brother, Kent Hall and wife Hazel of Amsterdam, Missouri; a sister, Shirley Sage of Butler, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Jeanene French and husband Terry of Cook, Nebraska and Eileen Shipps and husband Ron of Gower, Missouri; two nephews, Jeff and Todd Hall; a niece, Charlene Sage; four step grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 2014; a sister, Maxine Hall; and a brother-in-law, Dwight Sage.
