Obituary - Diane Marie Milbauer

Diane Marie Milbauer
Diane Marie Milbauer, 63, Nevada, MO passed away on Friday, September 01, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO following a brief illness. Diane was born March 13, 1954 in Columbus, OH to Lyle E. and Joann Marie (Wheeler) Smith. She was united in marriage to Russell D. Milbauer on August 25, 1979 in Hayward, CA and he survives of the home.

Diane was raised in Kirksville, MO and Fremont, CA. She graduated from Irvington High School in Freemont in 1972. Diane worked in management in the grocery distribution industry for several years. Later she worked in the Administrative Office of the Sylvan School District in Modesto, CA. She and Russell came to Nevada in January of 2006. She has been a volunteer at St. Mary’s where she was involved with the school lunch program, as the librarian, and as an art teacher. She was a member of the Nevada Bunko Babes. Diane was known for her cooking, floral arrangements, and artwork.


In addition to her husband Russell, she is survived by two children, Julie Milbauer, Lodi, CA, and Brian Milbauer and his wife Elizabeth, Lodi, CA; two grandsons, Logan Milbauer and Elliot Milbauer; parents, Lyle and Joann Smith, Raymore, MO; two brothers, Matthew Smith and his wife Debbie, Christopher Smith and his wife Christi; two sisters, Cynthia Perez, Kelly Smith; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nevada with Father Peter Savidge officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. with visitation following from 6:30 -7:30 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Church and School in c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.




Attempted abduction in Benton County

On Monday August 28th, a resident on Centerline Ave reported a white male subject in his 50's trying to coax his juvenile daughter to get in his car. We've had other incidences in our County similar to this one. 

The The surveillance photo is poor quality but you you get the idea. Please watch your little ones closely and call 911 if you see a suspicious person! This parent was vigilant and stopped a possible abduction...

Tobias S. Martinez 38 of Warsaw was arrested at the West Bledsoe Ferry Park for possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Martinez is a prior felon.

Update: Two from Kansas City escape injury in accident on I-49 north of Butler

On 9/1/17 around 9:53am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and Butler Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident in the southbound lanes of I-49 at mile marker 134 north of Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Honda Odyssey mini van driven by 45 year old Mya Dwe of Kansas City, Missouri was forced off the roadway when a unknown vehicle made a lane change, causing the vehicle to travel down a embankment and struck a culvert.

A passenger in Mr. Dwe vehicle 69 year old Zati Zar of Kansas City, Missouri sustained minor injuries in this accident but he refused medical treatment at the scene of the accident.

The vehicle was driven from the scene of the accident.
