Hay Bale Fire West of Adrian

The Adrian Fire Department along with mutual aid of the Drexel Fire Department is in route to hay bales on fire off of FF Highway and CR 6001 at this time.

Around 8 hay bales are said to be on fire at this time.

Obituary - Dorothy “Dot” Mahan

Dorothy “Dot” Mahan
Dorothy “Dot” Mahan, 89, went home to be with the Lord on 8-31-17. Dot was born in Butler, Mo to Mary and Jesse Keeton. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Jesse Keeton; her brothers, Albry E. “Tom” Keeton; Lloyd Marvin “Tut” Keeton; Omer Lee “John” Keeton; her sisters Mildred “Baid” Cavendar and Betty Crook; her husband, Delbert Mahan; her son, Jimmie “Jim” Mahan; and her daughter, Mary “Jan” Rowland. 

She is survived by her daughter, Lesa Keen; and grandchildren Preston Allen, Christina Foltz, James Mahan, Corey Mahan, Julie Ast, Andi Rowland, Shelly Hieber, Racquel Cook, and Josh Keen; and several great grandchildren.

Dot graduated from Nevada High School in 1946. Dot married Delbert on Sept. 24, 1948. They lived for many years in Nevada, Missouri and then Clinton, Missouri. Dot worked as a telephone operator when they were first married and spent most of her life as a homemaker caring for her family and children. 

Dot was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada, Missouri and has been an active member in the Clinton Order of the Eastern Star for many years. Dot loved to fish, play cards, and visit with her family. She also had a great love for her dachshund, Molly. 

Visitation September 6th 2017 9:00am Service 10:00am at the Lee’s Summit Baptist Temple, 2614 NW Chipman Road Lee’s Summit Missouri 64081 Burial at the Englewood Cemetery Clinton Missouri.

Drexel woman arrested in Jackson County

On 9/3/17 around 4:09am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Jackson County arrested 35 year old Rebekah J. Fonseca of Drexel, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Speeding 3.) Lane Violation.

Rebekah J. Fonseca was released with future charges pending.

Felix Irawan Suwito, age 42, of Belton, Missouri passed away September 1, 2017 at Research Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6th, at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, Belton, Missouri. 


Burial will take place at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial Contributions may be given to St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave, Belton, Missouri 64012.

Obituary - Curtis Sartin

Curtis D. Sartin, 54, of Osceola, Missouri died Wednesday in Warrensburg, Mo., as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

He was born June 13, 1963 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Lee Roy Sartin and Kathryn Lee (Callaway) Sartin.

Curtis was employed in the construction industry.

Surviving are his wife, Pamela J. Sartin, Clinton, Mo.; one son, Curtis Lee Sartin and wife Jeannie, Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Ariel Layne Sartin, Sedalia, Mo.; his mother, Kathy Sartin, Clinton, Mo.; one sister, Kristi Sartin, Clinton, Mo.; one granddaughter, Kathryn Renee Sartin, Kansas City, Mo.; two nieces, Evan Nicole Phillips, Warrensburg, Mo., and Alexa Phillips, Clinton, Mo.; one nephew, Joshua Phillips, Clinton, Mo.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Obituary - Diane Marie Milbauer

Diane Marie Milbauer
Diane Marie Milbauer, 63, Nevada, MO passed away on Friday, September 01, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO following a brief illness. Diane was born March 13, 1954 in Columbus, OH to Lyle E. and Joann Marie (Wheeler) Smith. She was united in marriage to Russell D. Milbauer on August 25, 1979 in Hayward, CA and he survives of the home.

Diane was raised in Kirksville, MO and Fremont, CA. She graduated from Irvington High School in Freemont in 1972. Diane worked in management in the grocery distribution industry for several years. Later she worked in the Administrative Office of the Sylvan School District in Modesto, CA. She and Russell came to Nevada in January of 2006. She has been a volunteer at St. Mary’s where she was involved with the school lunch program, as the librarian, and as an art teacher. She was a member of the Nevada Bunko Babes. Diane was known for her cooking, floral arrangements, and artwork.


In addition to her husband Russell, she is survived by two children, Julie Milbauer, Lodi, CA, and Brian Milbauer and his wife Elizabeth, Lodi, CA; two grandsons, Logan Milbauer and Elliot Milbauer; parents, Lyle and Joann Smith, Raymore, MO; two brothers, Matthew Smith and his wife Debbie, Christopher Smith and his wife Christi; two sisters, Cynthia Perez, Kelly Smith; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nevada with Father Peter Savidge officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. with visitation following from 6:30 -7:30 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Church and School in c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
