Osceola man injured in St. Clair County rollover accident
On 9/29/17 around 1:05pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County responded to a one vehicle accident on Route C just west of Iconium in rural St. Clair County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara driven by 43 year old Heath B. Maxwell of Osceola, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Mr Maxwell sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri for treatment.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Bray's Towing from Osceola, Missouri.

KBI and Osage County Sheriff's Office Request Assistance to Identify the Remains of a Woman Found at Melvern Lake
PLEASE SHARE: The KBI and the Osage County, KS Sheriff's Office need your help to identify the remains of a woman found Aug. 25 at Melvern Lake. It is believed the woman was the victim of a homicide.
Sex: Female
Race: Likely Hispanic (however, White cannot be ruled out)
Age range: 35-50 years of age (but potentially could also be 30-65 years old)
Height: 5' 2" to 5' 8" tall (but could potentially also be 5' 1" to 5' 9")
Time death occurred: Likely April 2017 to July 2017 (but potentially may have occurred late Fall 2016 to July 2017)
She was also wearing clothing and jewelry that could help

Sex: Female

Ted was raised in Ft. Scott and attended school there graduating from Ft. Scott High School in 1970. Following high school he attended Pittsburg State University, and Ft. Scott Community College. Ted was a police officer in Pittsburg for three years before coming to Nevada in 1982. For the next 27 years he was employed as an officer of the Nevada Police Department.
Ted enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, riding motorcycles, bar-b-ques, and cooking. He was also involved in martial arts, and weight training. Ted was a Masonic Lodge member in Pittsburg, KS. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nevada.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Williams and his wife Bethia, Carthage, MO, and their daughter Suzanne; one daughter, Kari (Williams) Mills and her husband Gary, Perry, GA, and their children, Emma Ellis, Madelyn Ellis, Braden Ellis, and Olivia Mills; Ted was a special great-uncle to J.R., Randy, and Erik DeLaney, Krissie Cherry and her husband Joe. He is also survived by a special friend since 8th grade, Larry DeLaney and his wife Sam, Nevada; his mother-in-law, Jeanne Craig, Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nevada with Rev. Chris Deines officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Orum Cemetery in Redfield, KS. The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the Lewis and Nelda Williams Scholarship Fund at Ft. Scott Community College, in c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Update: One arrested after Kansas Police chase ends in Merwin

Additional Deputies and Agencies were called to the scene to assist in the search for the suspect. All of the houses in the immediate area were searched for the suspect with negative results.
A short time later a man meeting the description of the suspect was seen walking along a ridge to the west of the scene. A Deputy made contact with the suspect who was hiding behind a cluster of trees.
The suspect was identified as Matthew Scott Joiner (DOB 10/1/1968). Joiner complied with the Deputy’s commands and was taken into custody.

While they were leaving the trees a black bag was discovered that held a syringe and what appeared to be methamphetamine in it.
The Deputy tested the syringe and the crystal substance and it tested positive for methamphetamine.
Mr.Joiner was transported to the Bates County Jail where he remains in custody. He was charged in Bates County with Possession of a Controlled Substance except 35 grams or less of Marijuana and for Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond was set $10,000.00 cash or surety.
