Man with a gun call in Butler


Domestic Assault in Adrian

On October 30th a Sergeant responded to a residence on county road 1501 in Adrian in reference to a domestic assault that had just occurred.

The Sergeant met with the victim who stated that her daughter, Anna McGraw (DOB 10/20/1992) had just assaulted her.

The victim said she was talking to McGraw when she pushed her onto the bed then twisted her leg and flipped her off the bed. She also kicked and spit at her. McGraw then took her car keys and left the residence. The victim stated that she was tired of the abuse and wanted to press charges for the assault.
The Sergeant then left the residence and attempted to locate McGraw in Adrian. A short time later dispatch advised the Sergeant that McGraw had returned to the residence where the assault had occurred. The Sergeant went back to the residence and spoke with McGraw. The victim stated again that she wanted to press charges.

McGraw was taken into custody and transported to the Bates County Jail. She was charged with Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Her bond was set at $4500.00 cash or surety.

Stolen Vehicle In Butler

The video shows a unknown male subject who stole a 1999 maroon in color Chevrolet Silverado extended cab truck from 106 S. Sunset Drive ( Murray's Auto Repair) around midnight last night.

Deepwater man arrested in Henry County

On 11/5/17 around 10:00am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County arrested 49 year old Kevin J. Phelps of Deepwater, Missouri

Mr. Phelps was arrested for 1.) Misdemeanor Camden County Sheriff's Office Warrant 2.)Resisting Arrest/Fleeing creating a substantial risk.

He was booked into the Henry County Jail in Clinton, Missouri and he is currently listed as bondable.

Obituary - George Leroy Bower

George Leroy Bower, 79, of Pleasant Hill, was born, September 6, 1938, in Lakin, Kansas, the son of Jesse S. and June K. (Dunbar) Bower. He departed this life, Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence.

Leroy was a 1957 Uniontown, Kansas High School graduate.

He was first united in marriage to Phyllis I. Whitcomb; they later divorced. On January 30, 1971, he was united in marriage to Karyn S. Townsley in Ft. Scott, Kansas. She survives.

Leroy was employed as a Union Carpenter retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #77. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, working on cars and lawn mower engines, gardening, and smoking various meats.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tracy L. Michael; two brothers, Floyd Bower and Jay Bower; and one sister, Margaret Rhodes.

He is survived by his wife Karyn of Pleasant Hill; two sons, Darren (and Billie) Stewart of Pleasant Hill, and Steven (and Robin) Bower of Winfield, Kansas; one daughter, Lori (and Jon) Evans of Moran, Kansas; three brothers, John (and Amelia) Bower of Deerfield, Missouri, Perry (and Helen) Bower and Chester (and Linda) Bower, both of Ft. Scott, Kansas; two sisters, Roberta Rickman of Girard, Kansas, and Mable Green of Peyton, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren (with another one on the way); other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Donate Life and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
