Shoplifting in Appleton City

On Nov. 30, A St. Clair County deputy responded to Dollar General Store on Fourth Street, Appleton City in reference to a shoplifting in progress.

The deputy was advised that three juvenile females had left the store and were walking west towards the park.
The deputy made contact with a store employee who stated that three female juveniles were in the store around the makeup and the headphones. The store employee stated that he watched the video surveillance footage and observed that the juveniles were stuffing products into a jacket.

The employee also stated that all three juveniles went into the bathroom at the same time and one returned to the bathroom to get her coat. The employee stated he went into the bathroom and located an empty pink “Gumy” earphone package in the trash can.

Another St. Clair County deputy was searching the area for the three juveniles and located them at the city park. The juveniles denied stealing anything. The area was searched and a set of pink earphones were located where the deputy had originally seen the juveniles.

The juveniles were transported to their residence and contact was made with their mother. The situation was explained to her and that the case would be turned over to the juvenile office.
