Update: Wanted man arrested in Barton County

On 12-21-2017 the Barton County Sheriff's Office put out information about a subject wanted on an outstanding warrant. The Subject was a Jared T Cofield, age 30 of Golden City. The Sheriff's Office started getting tips on the location of the subject shortly after the post was put up. 

Deputies went to the address to try and located the subject. When deputies knocked on the door of the home in Golden City a male which was identified as Jared Cofield moved a curtain from a window in the door to see who was knocking. 

Cofield closed the curtain and retreated back in the home after seeing the deputies. Deputies knowing he was inside the home filled out a affidavit for a search warrant to enter the home and arrest Cofield on his outstanding warrant. 

The search warrant was granted and deputies from the Barton County Sheriff's Office and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper executed the search warrant at approximately 10pm. 

Cofield was found in the home and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Barton County Jail where he was processed into the jail.

Obituary - Russell David Oesch

Russell David Oesch age 83 of Peculiar, Missouri departed this life Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at his home.

Russell is survived by his two sons, Eric Oesch of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Kyle Greenfield and wife Lucy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a daughter, Marley Kilian and husband Jake of Archie, Missouri; three grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation. No services are scheduled.

Final arrangements are under the care of Cass County Cremation Services, Harrisonville, Missouri.



Obituary - Robert, "Bobby" Aguilera Ruiz

Robert, "Bobby" Aguilera Ruiz, age 62, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at his home in Pleasanton. He was born on January 11, 1955 at Kansas City, Missouri the son of Santo Macias and Josephine Aguilera Ruiz. 

He worked as a nuclear medical technician at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He married his long time companion Carol Sue Sutton on February 14, 2017. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Santos. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol, two daughters, Rebecca Marquez and Christy Rodriguez, two step sons, Jeff Fawcette and Brian Lewis, a step daughter, Kristen Staton; three brothers: Santos Jr, Bernie and Richard Ruiz; a sister, Stella Ruiz, sixteen grand and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 1 pm Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11 am to service time at the chapel. Obituary - Harlan Ray Hovey

Harlan Ray Hovey, 97, Nevada, MO passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at his home in Nevada. Harlan was born August 31, 1920 in Walker, MO to Clarence Ray and Ada Bell (Craven) Hovey. On November 9, 1946 he was united in marriage to Clara Mae Jeffrey and she preceded him in death on April 5, 1993. In August 24, 1994 he married Dorothy Barr and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2014.

Harlan grew up on a farm in rural Walker and graduated from Walker High School in 1939. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII from September 29, 1942 thru October 19, 1945. Harlan trained as a tail gunner and was involved in European, African, Middle Eastern theaters. Shortly after entering the service his plane was shot down in Germany and he became a P.O.W.

Following time in the service, Harlan returned to Walker where he farmed and operated a dairy until 1959. At that time he came to Nevada and began working as a carpenter; he also worked for a time in Kansas City in the steel industry. For an additional seventeen years Harlan worked at the Nevada State Hospital until his retirement. Harlan also owned and managed several rental houses in Nevada. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a past member of Gideons International.

Survivors include one son, Richard Hovey and his wife Delores of Nevada, one sister, Lorraine Fields of Houston, TX, several nieces, nephews and cousins; four step-children, Marita Bigelow, Joe Barr, Charlene Keating, all of Ft. Scott, KS, and Charlotte Stewart, of Bronson, KS; step-daughter-in-law, Janice Barr, Ft. Scott; and several step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Hubert Fox officiating. Interment with military rites will follow in Newton Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the service at the funeral home.



In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in Harlan’s memory to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at First Baptist Church or Gideons International c/o Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada, MO 64772.

Obituary - Charles Arnold

Charles Arnold, 85 of Adrian, Missouri passed away December 20, 2017 at his home in Adrian. 

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Mullinax Funeral Home (660-679-0009) in Butler, Missouri with Chaplain Steve Knoll officiating.
