Harvey "Fig" Burris
Harvey "Fig" Burris is still being sought by the Greenwood County Kansas Sheriff's Office in connection with a stabbing in Madison in the early morning hours of January 6, 2018. 

Mr. Burris used to frequent the Iola/Allen County area and lived for a time in Neosho Falls. For more information on the incident, please check their Facebook page.

If you know the whereabouts or have seen Mr. Burris, call 911. He should be considered armed and dangerous.




Rich Hill School Closed today!

No school in the Rich Hill School District today, January 8th, due to low water pressure.

A Linn County, Kansas Game Warden responded to a call out during one of his days off last week. 

The call resulted in discovery of violations for hunting without written permission on private property posted with purple paint, illegal transfer of a deer tag, and take deer by illegal means (.22 rimfire).

Obituary - William Corwin Pointer Jr. "Pete"

William Corwin Pointer Jr. "Pete", age 71, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Prescott Country View. He was born at Fort Scott, Kansas on August 6, 1946 the son of William and Josephine McGlathery Pointer. 

He graduated from Pleasanton High School . On December 25, 1966, he married Ruby Fritts in Mound City, Kansas at the First Baptist Church. He worked as a pipe fitter for Conley Sprinkler before retirement. He was a member of the Sprinkler Fitter''s Union Local #669. 

Pete loved his family and community. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle. The family takes great solace in knowing that Pete was at peace with his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Brandon Pointer. Pete is survived by his wife, Ruby, two sons, Eric Pointer and wife Wendi, and Bryan Pointer, a brother Joe Pointer and wife Linda, a sister Maxine Johnson, and three granddaughters: Kyra, Jaidyn and Danyka.

Memorial service will be 7 pm Wednesday, January 10, 2017 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm. The family suggests contributions to Children''s Mercy Hospital. On line condolences for the family can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com. Paul A. Riley, 78, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home in Harrisonville. 

Memorial services will be held 4:00pm Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.
