Obituary - William A. “Bill” Peak

William A. “Bill” Peak, 91, formerly of Nevada, MO passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Four Seasons Living Center in Sedalia, MO following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 25, 1926 in Winnsboro, SC to William and Sarah (Wilson) Peak.

In 1943, Bill entered the United States Navy where he served until 1946. During his years in the service he earned many ribbons including the American Area Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, Point System, and Victory Medal.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Bass, Chester, SC; grandchildren, Ann Stephenson, Clover, SC, and Joey Bass, Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Lucille Haynes, Kansas City, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife Neva, his parents, one brother, David J. Peak, three nephews and one niece.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, KS. Arrangements are being handled by Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO.

Adrian School District Academic All-State Honors Released





One vehicle accident North of Adrian

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies are on scene of a one vehicle accident on Missouri Route E Highway and NE CR 143 close to AA Highway.

No one is reported as having serious injuries in this accident and both occupants are out of the vehicle at this time.

Two from Rich Hill escape injury in Bates County Crash

On 1/8/17 around 11:35am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County responded to a one vehicle accident at A Highway and PP Highway in rural Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2002 Chrysler Concorde driven by 77 year old Walter L. Burchell of Rich Hill, Missouri suffered a unknown medical episode causing the vehicle to travel off the south side of the roadway.

Mr. Burchell along with a passenger in his vehicle 77 year old Rosalee A. Burchell both sustained minor injuries in this accident and both refused medical treatment at the scene of this accident.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Douty's Tow of Butler, Missouri.

Obituary - Dale Edwin Hutson Jr.

Dale Edwin Hutson, Jr. 67 passed away Friday January 5th, 2018 at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas.

Dale was a loving father to 4 beautiful children Chris Hutson Kansas City, Mo, Amber Clevenger Drexel, Mo, Michael Hutson Independence, Mo., Molly Hutson Kansas City, Mo. Loving son to his mother Dorothy Hutson of Clinton, Mo. Loving brother to 4 brothers and 3 sisters, 2 half-brothers and 1 half-sister, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Dale is an Army Veteran he did a tour in Vietnam from: 1968-1971

In lieu of flowers make donations to Disabled American Veterans. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11am with visitation one hour prior to service at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton. Internment will be at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton.
