Pam Watts Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Year 2017

Pam Watts was recognized as the 2017 Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Year at the BCMH Awards Banquet on December 21, 2017. Pam began her employment in June, 2000 in the Home Care Department. 

She later transferred to the Human Resources Department as the HR Assistant. Pam is an exceptional employee and is often the face of the HR department, greeting and assisting employees in whatever they are needing. 

Pam also works closely with our Auxiliary volunteers, assisting in coordinating their fundraising activities. Pam is a skilled, knowledgeable, loyal and dependable employee. She was voted Employee of the Year by a secret ballot of fellow employees.

Obituary - Gerald "Jerry" Leon Kirbey

On January 10, 2018, we had to say goodbye to Gerald “Jerry” Kirbey.

As a husband, father, son, brother, in-law, uncle, and friend he filled our lives with love and laughter.

As a teacher and principal at El Dorado Springs Elementary School he helped children learn and grow for over 30 years.

Jerry was always eager to share his passions for music, golf, single malt scotch and his Corvette.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers those who wish may contribute in Gerald’s memory to a scholarship fund at the El Dorado Springs Elementary School, 901 S. Grand Ave., El Dorado Springs, MO, 64744, or c/o Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.





Fatality accident claims the life of Osceola man

On 1/10/18 around 1:51am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County along with St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Old Humansville Road just south of State Route WW in rural Osceola in St. Clair County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1989 Chevrolet C1500 driven by 53 year old Curtis N. Buchanan of Osceola, Missouri traveled off the roadway and struck a culvert.

Mr. Buchanan was pronounced dead  at the scene of the accident and he was transported to Sheldon Goodrich Funeral Home.

The vehicle received moderate damages and it was towed from the scene by Bray's Tow of Osceola, Missouri.

This is Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 1st Fatality accident of 2018.

Obituary - Christopher Donald Graham


A Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January, 18, 2018 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Reverend David Fitzmaurice officiating.

Christopher Donald Graham, age 41 of Pensacola, Florida, formerly of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, December 21, 2017 in Alabama. He was born February 28, 1976 to Donald Dean and Klista Irene Lyman Graham in Clinton, Missouri.

Chris is survived by his mother, Klista Graham of Butler, Missouri; one son, Logan Graham of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Kelly Hayden and wife Jennifer of Pensacola, Florida; two sisters, Robin Butler and husband Greg of Roseville, California and Brandi Graham of Butler, Missouri; his fiance, Nicole Feittz. Chris is preceded in death by his father.




Property Damage Reported In Freeman

On Jan. 1 at 1253 hours a Cass County Sheriff's deputy conducted an investigation at a residence in the 200 block of North Jackson Street in Freeman in regard to a report of property damage. 

The deputy contacted the reporting party and victim, a male who stated that the driver’s side window on his vehicle had been broken. 

No suspect information is available at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cass County Sheriff's Office at 816-380-5200.

Adrian woman arrested in Henry County

Tavia J. Smith 
On 1/9/18 around 11:16am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County arrested 38 year old Tavia J. Smith of Adrian, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Felony 1st Degree Tampering with a motor vehicle 2.) Driving While Suspended -1st Offence 3.)Failure to register a motor vehicle 4.) No Insurance.

Tavia J. Smith was booked into the Henry County Jail in Clinton, Missouri and placed on a $10,500 Cash/Surety Bond.
