Obituary - Patty Sue Ragan

Patty Sue Ragan, 58, Grandview, MO, formerly of Nevada, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City following a lengthy illness.

Patty was born June 6, 1959 in Nevada to Frank Junior and Rhoda May (Russell) Burdick. She grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School with the Class of 1977. Patty moved to the Kansas City area in 1994 and has resided there since that time.

Survivors include four children, Jennifer Ragan, Kansas City, MO, Warren Ragan, Grandview, MO, Tara Ragan, Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, Samantha Ragan, Kansas City, MO; three granddaughters, Maele, Gabriel, Mia; one brother, Jerry Burdick, Sheldon; one sister, Susan Floor and her husband Earnest, Carl Junction, MO; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry Burdick; two sisters, Betty Pettibon and Nancy Hogan.


A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.


Electric City Soccer Club Sign Ups 2018

The time for Spring soccer is here again! 

Soccer sign ups will be in the party room of Butler Pizza Hut on W. Ft. Street on February 17th from 11 am-1 pm.

February 18th from 1 pm-3pm, February 24th from 11 am-1 pm, and February 25th from 1 pm-3 pm.

Cost is $45 for ages 4 through 12th grade.

Bobby "Bob" Dean Smith 
Bobby "Bob" Dean Smith age 74 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg, Missouri.

Bob is survived by his wife Joyce Smith of the home; a step son Karl Myers of Grovetown, Georgia; a daughter, Shelley Smith of Seneca, Missouri; three step daughters, Sindy Carnahan and her husband Mike of Harrisonville, Missouri, Sherri Murphy and her husband Steve of St. Mary's, Kansas, and Shannon Murphy of Overland Park, Kansas; a brother, Bill Smith of Grandview, Missouri; two sisters, Ruth Mailes of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Vera Turner of Carl Junction, Missouri; three grand children, Noah, Misti, and George; eight step grandchildren, Jennifer, Christian, Alex, Monica, Robert, Damian, Nicholas, and Jeannie; thirty eight step great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Floral Hill East Memorial Gardens, Lee's Summit, Missouri.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.

Obituary - Aron McCall Janssens

Aron McCall Janssens
Aron McCall Janssens, 22, of Peculiar, Missouri, was born on January 18, 1996, in Kansas City, Missouri, the only son of Albert and Dayna Janssens. He departed this life Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

A graduate of Ray-Pec High School's Class of 2014, Aron recently completed his first semester at UMKC where he majored in Finance, after receiving his Associate of Arts degree from Longview Community College. 

He was employed at CVS Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician in order to pay his way through school. A gifted mechanic, Aron had an interest in all things engine related. This was an interest he developed as a very young child and never let go of.

He is survived by his mother and father; his older sister, Nancy; younger sister, Rosemary; and a very large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cross Catholic Outreach or Food for the Poor.
