Obituary - Joshua Stutts

Joshua Dean Stutts, 39, of Clinton, Missouri, formerly of Belton, Mo., died unexpectedly Saturday evening, January 27, 2018.

He was born February 7, 1978 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Paul Michael Stutts and Cathleen Noel (Warren) Stutts.

Josh was employed in landscaping and lawn care. In his spare time he enjoyed cooking, grilling, camping, fishing and his dogs. His first love and priority were his kids and family. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church and is a veteran of the United States Army.

Surviving are his wife Amy Rachell (Woolridge) Stutts of Belton, Mo.; two sons, Jordan M. Dills, Clinton, Mo., and Ryder T. Keesler, Belton, Mo.; his father, Paul M. Stutts and wife Theresa, Independence, Mo.; one brother, Tyler James Stutts, Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Lauren Michelle Stutts, Maryville, Mo., and Kimberly Diane Mell and husband Kenny, Greenview, Mo.; his maternal grandfather, James Warren, Laurie, Mo.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Obituary - Phillip Ray Ewbank

Phillip Ray Ewbank, age 80, of Washburn, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home.

He was born April 20, 1937 in Butler, Missouri, the son of Perry and Blanche Eva (Dunavan) Ewbank. On June 7, 1963 in Pomona, California he was united in marriage to Dar Lene Nelson, who preceded him in death on May 31, 2010. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Eva Marie Ewbank; two brothers and one sister.

Surviving are one son, David Ewbank and his wife Lori of Washburn, Missouri; three brothers, Harold and Don both of the Kansas City area and John of Tennessee, three sisters, Muril, Shirley and Janie all of the Kansas City area; two granddaughters Jaclynn and Heather; one step-granddaughter, Nacole and one great grandson, Braelyn.

Phillip graduated from high school in Amsterdam, Missouri. He then attended Mt. San Antonio Jr. College and Chafee College receiving his Associate Degree. From 1960 until 1962 he served in the United States Army. For several years he was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. In 1993 he moved from Montclair, California to Washburn to make his home. He was a member of Church of God Seventh Day Adventist. Some of his favorite pastimes were fixing things, working on his home and his church activities.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Butler man arrested on probation violation in Vernon County

On Sunday 1/28/18 the Vernon County Sheriff's Office booked in 34 year old Christopher L. Foster of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Foster was arrested for 1.) Probation Violation Warrant - Original Charges March 2016 of Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance.

He was booked into the Vernon County Jail in Nevada, Missouri and a probation Violation hearing will be held on February 16, 2018.

Obituary - William Patrick “Pat” Thomas

William Patrick “Pat” Thomas, 61 of Cleveland, Missouri passed away January 29, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (660-679-0009). 

A visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm Saturday, also at the chapel. Burial will follow services in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri.

Funeral services for Barbara Mallatt, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler, Missouri with Pastor John Prichard officiating. 

Burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Galena, Kansas. There is no visitation.

Barbara Jean Mallatt, age 62 of Butler, Missouri was born November 20, 1955 to Burl F. Jr. and Mary Frances Dotson Armstrong in Kansas City, Missouri. She died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bob Mallatt of Butler, Missouri; one son, Richie Mallatt and wife Alexandria of Harrisonville, Missouri; one daughter, Sandy Cook and husband Sean of Butler, Missouri; her mother, Mary Dotson of Webb City, Missouri; two brothers, Pat Armstrong of Webb City, Missouri and Richard Armstrong and wife Fran of Gladstone, Missouri; one sister, Virginia Armstrong of Joplin, Missouri; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, an infant son, Robert Mallatt; two brothers, Billy and Mike Armstrong; and one sister, Mary Lee Stewart.

Obituary - Myrtle Ann Johnson

Myrtle Johnson, age 92 passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. Myrtle enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing. She loved working in her garden, canning, and setting on the porch watching the birds. She also enjoyed driving around in the country. When she was younger she played the harmonica in Dad's band.

Myrtle is survived by son Michael (Darlene) Johnson of Harrisonville, MO, grandchildren Kevin Scott Johnson, Moberly, MO and Michanne Eugenia Johnson, Moberly, MO, and grand dogs, Nekka and Tiffany.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Scott Johnson in 2007, 1 sister, Elise Garrett and 2 brothers, Jim Harrelson and George Harrelson.

Graveside service will be at 11am on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. The family suggests memorials be made to the Clinton Senior Center and may be left in care of the funeral home.
