A light wintry mix of light freezing drizzle, light freezing rain, light sleet, and light snow will develop and spread over the area this afternoon into tonight. Light accumulations and travel impacts are expected!

Power Outage in Amsterdam
Around 450 KCP&L Customers are without power at this time. We have heard of several power outage reports around the Amsterdam area.
Unsure at this time the cause of this outage but crews are on the way to fix the problem.

Obituary - Cathy Widner
Cathy Widner, age 62, La Cygne, Kansas passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at her home. She was born on November 27, 1955 at Butler Missouri the daughter of Elzie Eugene and Joy Madeline Barker Slaughter. She graduated from Prairie View High School. She married Daniel Widner on December 21, 1975. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2013.
Cathy was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in La Cygne. She was very talented craftswoman and seamstress. She made ceramics and different types of jewelry. But, most importantly, she was a homemaker who took care of her family and helped many others who were down on their luck. She worked in nursing homes in La Cygne, Osawatomie and Paola and was a foster parent to many. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother. George Slaughter.
Cathy is survived by her children: Jodi Meek, Katie Knop, Matt Widner, Krystal Davidson and Ali Bauer, a brother, David Slaughter, a sister, Marsha Wunderly and six grandchildren: Hunter, Macaleigh, Gracelyn, Danielle, Madeline and Isabelle.
Memorial service will be held 11 am Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday at the La Cygne Chapel.

Light Snow Still On Track For Tuesday
Light snow and freezing drizzle possible through late Monday evening. Please stay cautious of slick spots if traveling.
Snow still expected for Tuesday. Tuesday morning commute looks okay, but light snow expected around the time of evening commute. Better chance for higher amounts north of I-70, but stay tuned to forecast updates.
Obituary - Robert A. Hedges
Robert A. Hedges, age 90, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Lake Stockton Healthcare in Stockton, MO. Robert was born September 17, 1927 in Milo to Owen and Zelma (Houth) Hedges. On July 27, 1950 he was married to Helen M. Floyd and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2006.
Robert attended the Fern School and the Milo School until the age of 16 when he left home to go to work in Kansas City. Robert joined the United States Airforce as soon as he turned 18 in 1945. He received his basic training at Shepherd Field, Wichita Falls, TX. Robert served in Occupied Germany during the Berlin Air Lift Device. In 1949 he returned to the United States and served the remainder of his enlistment at the Desert Chemical Depot near Salt Lake City, Utah. Robert was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1951 at which time he and Helen returned to Vernon County to farm with his father for a time. He then went to work as a mechanic for C.A. White Motors and later for Wysong Motors in Nevada. In 1967 Robert purchased and operated a dairy farm which he continued to operate until he retired in 1993. Robert liked to tinker in his shop where he worked on vehicles and machinery. He also enjoyed gardening, and mowing, keeping up with the latest technology.
Robert is survived by his three children, daughter, Barbara Hedges of Milo, two sons, Bill Hedges and his wife, Debby of Nevada, and Brian Hedges and his wife, Liz of Stockton, six grandchildren, Paula Fleury and husband Chris, Derek Hedges, Chris Hedges, Aaron Hedges, Levi Hamersley and wife, Ayumi, and Austen Hedges, one great grandson, Andre Fleury, one sister, Martha Maness, Nevada, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Helen, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David Hedges, and his beloved dog, Scooter.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Milo Cemetery, Milo, MO. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Obituary - Merle Lawrence “Larry” Compton
Merle Lawrence “Larry” Compton, 79, Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a lengthy illness. Larry was born July 29, 1938 in Horton, MO to Mearl Ross “Jack” and Leota (Shields) Compton. He was united in marriage to Martha Ann Koehler on July 22, 1961 in Nevada, MO and she survives of the home.
Larry grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1958. Larry owned and operated his own trucking business, hauling grain for several years. Following that he and his wife owned and operated Phil’s Furniture in Nevada from 1979 until 2004. Larry also farmed nearly all of his life until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of Nevada Elks #564 and a member of the Southwest Missouri Team Penners Association. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and boating.
In addition to his wife Martha, he is survived by his children, Mike Compton and his wife Carolyn, Sheldon, Carri Compton, Milo, Melody Compton-Hogle and her husband Tim, Belton; three grandchildren, Lane Compton, Morgan Compton, Steffan Ogle. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Opal Turner; one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested in his memory to Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice Compassus in c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
