News from the Bates County Courthouse

Jury selection is underway this morning at the Bates County Court House for the trial of Jonathan Hopkins. Hopkins has been charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance. 

Jury selection is expected to completed by noon and Judge Journey will hear opening statements after the noon hour. Hugh C. Jenkins Bates County Prosecuting Attorney is representing the State.

Edna Berneice Quick, 81, Butler, MO, died Friday, February 23, 2018 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, MO. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO with burial in Meyers Cemetery, Butler, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Midwest Hemophilia Association.
