Obituary - Joseph Franklin Clark

Joseph Franklin Clark, 89 of Nevada, passed away February 26, 2018 in Nevada following a period of illness. Joe was born March 5, 1928 in Appleton City, MO, the son of Guy Keeler and Winnie Mae (Majors) Clark.

Joseph graduated from Rich Hill High School with the Class of 1945. He was a WWII veteran serving with the United States Army Air Corp. He married Merriell Lee in August of 1953 and the couple ran a dairy operation on the family farm near Hume, MO until he retired in 1990. He moved to Marionville, MO in 2005 where he lived until moving back to Nevada in 2017. 

Joe attended the United Methodist Church in Nevada where he attended the many church activities. He enjoyed years of traveling with his wife in their RV, playing golf, and crafting stained glass. Joe will be remembered by his family as a hard worker who was devoted to his wife and family and one who really enjoyed life.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Merriell in 2008, three brothers- Kenneth, Eugene, and an infant brother and is survived by a daughter, Sherry Amely-Velez (Ruben) Highlands, CO; brother, Charles Clark, Ft. Scott, KS; sister-in-law, Lois Bray, Denver, CO; companion, Marge Mason, Waupun, WI; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 in the United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Sharon Freeman officiating. A Private Committal will be held in the Independence Cemetery, Hume, MO at a later date.

Butler High School sponsoring a Drunk Driving Simulation

The Butler High School will be sponsoring a Drunk Driving Simulation this year on Wednesday, April 4th at 9:00 a.m. The Simulation will be held in front of the Butler High School on Fulton Street in front of the student parking lot. 

The Juniors and Seniors from the Bates County schools are invited along with Appleton City school, Juniors and Seniors. After the Simulation the students will remain outside and a speaker from the Highway Patrol will have a short message for the students.

The Police Department will be blocking off Nursery and Atkinson Street for the Simulation. Life Flight will be on scene if they are available that morning.
