Missouri State Highway Patrol Comment On Comerzan Case

Colonel Sandra K. Karsten, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces that today, a jury found Serghei Comerzan not guilty of involuntary manslaughter and resisting arrest in the death of Trooper James M. Bava.

Colonel Karsten stated, “This has been a very difficult period of time for James' family, friends, and for the Missouri State Highway Patrol. I want to express my thanks to all our employees as well as the law enforcement personnel who have invested countless hours in this investigation, including the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Missouri Office of Prosecution Services, and to every citizen who offered their help and support in any way. I am very grateful. The Patrol will continue to support the Bava Family in any way that we can.”

Obituary - Cooper Hayes Klepac

Cooper Hayes Klepac, 14 mo. passed away suddenly Sunday, February 25, 2018 in Girard, KS.
Cooper was full of life and always had a smile on his tiny face. He was full of energy always ready to cuddle and had the best sense of humor.   
He was born in Pittsburg, Ks, December 2, 2016 and resided in his home with his family in Nevada, Mo. 
Cooper will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Kyle and Amber Klepac, his siblings, Chloe and Nathan, paternal grandparents, Brian and Sher’ee Klepac, and maternal grandparents Jeff and Peggy Walker. Cooper will also be forever remembered by his Uncles, Aunts, cousins, great grandparents, great-great grandparents and many family friends.
A Celebration of Life will be taking place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Cooper’s burial fund at www.youcaring.com/kyleandamberklepac-1112752

Thursday was a busy day for the Drexel Fire Department

  • 1500 hrs Drexel Fire Rescue responded to a Medical call 900 blk N 4th St - Drexel
  • 1623 hrs Drexel Fire was dispatched to a 50 - 60 acre Natural cover fire in the area of 335th & Coldwater Rd - Rural Miami Co Ks
  • 1701 hrs Drexel Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported injury MVA (fatality) 399th & 69 hwy - Rural Miami Co Ks. Drexel Fire requested Linn Co Fire to respond Mutual aid do to the fact Drexel was still involved with the Natural Cover fire.
  • 2037 hrs Drexel Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of 383rd & Jingo Rd. - turned out to be hay bails and a lean to (barn). Louisburg was requested for mutual aid to assist Drexel.

Suspicious note left at Prairie View Kansas High School Bathroom

PVHS has had a suspicious note left in a bathroom today regarding a threat toward school tomorrow, March 2. Student safety is a priority for our district.


For heightened security and safety tomorrow USD 362 will have extra police presence at the PVHS/PVMS campus tomorrow, Friday, March 2, 2018.

We have turned this matter over to law enforcement officials to investigate. Parents if you wish to keep your PVHS/PVMS students home it will be an excused absence.


Obituary - Kelly L. (Keener) Clark

Kelly L. (Keener) Clark passed away Tuesday, February 27th, at the age of 55. Services for Kelly (Keener) Clark are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, at the Heuser Funeral Home in Rich Hill with burial to follow in Rich Hill's Greenlawn Cemetery. 

Visitation is scheduled between ten and 11am Friday morning, March 2,2018 at Heuser Funeral Home and memorials to a Kelly (Keener) Clark Fund are suggested.
