Cass County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Death as Homicide

On Friday, April 27, 2018 deputies were contacted by mushroom hunters who found possible human remains.

Investigators responded to the area of S. Mopac Rd between E. 235th and E. 239th where they discovered a set of human remains in a wooded area.

At this time a preliminary autopsy of the remains indicate that the victim is a female. Investigators continue to work with area law enforcement agencies to determine the identity of the victim. Investigators are considering this as a homicide.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Cass County Sheriff's Office at 816-380-5200.

(Additional – Investigators have been in contact with Ferris family.  The Cass County Sheriff’s Office can confirm that the remains are NOT those of Desirea Ferris.  Investigators are not releasing what information they used to conclude that it is not her.)
