Accused cop killer Ian McCarthy transferred to Jackson County Jail

According to Henry County Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom, Ian James McCarthy, 39 of Clinton, Missouri was transferred on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 to the custody of the Jackson County Jail in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Mr. McCarthy’s criminal case was transferred to Jackson County a few weeks ago on a change of venue. 

State law provides for the housing of inmates in the county where the venue is changed to for the purposes of trial, Sheriff Oberkrom said.




Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month May 2018

Dana Robertson is recognized as the Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for May, 2018. Dana began her employment at BCMH in June, 2009. She works full time as a medical assistant in the Nursery Street Family Care Clinic. 

In addition to her regular clinic laboratory duties, Dana also assists in rooming patients, cleans treatment rooms, answers any questions, teaches other staff on proper procedures and new processes. 

Dana is regarded by her coworkers as someone who is always willing to help others, and is often complimented by patients for her blood drawing skills.
Dana always has a smile and pleasant greeting for everyone, and is an asset to BCMH and the patients we serve.

Nevada man seriously injured in Vernon County crash

On 5/2/18 around 7:58am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County responded to a two vehicle accident on CR 1700 around 1 mile NE of Nevada.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1995 Chevrolet S-10 driven by 63 year old Gordon L. Seacreas of Nevada,Missouri failed to stop at a stop sign a trailer being towed by a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 driven by 22 year old Dylan K. Walker of Nevada, Missouri.

Mr. Seacreas sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported by helicopter to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri for treatment.

Both vehicles sustained damage and both were driven from the scene of the accident.

Two injured in Bates County rollover accident

On 5/2/18 around 12:40pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Route TT just west of CR 2001 in rural NW Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2008 white in color Ford F-150 driven by 18 year old Donovan H. Conyers-Ryberg of Holden, Missouri (Formerly of Butler) failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the north side of the roadway and overturned.

Mr. Ryberg along with a passenger in this vehicle 18 year old Joshua J. Blomquist of Butler, Missouri both sustained injuries in this accident and both were transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Don's Tow of Butler.

This is a dangerous line of storms with potential for embedded tornadoes and 70 mph winds. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage.
