Thank You Bates County

Once again thank you Bates County, you showed up and stood out!! You have helped a family of 11 today. The Blevins family thanks you.

We had blocks sit up in Adrian, Passaic and Butler! All donations made at these blocks go directly to Raymond!!!

FYI we did NOT have blocks sit up in Archie or Harrisonville, so if you donated at Archie or Harrisonville and were told it was for The Raymond Blevins family, you were lied too. We apologize if this happened to you.

The Bates County Blockers take great pride in all the work they do for people in need. Please know all monies we collect always go straight to the families. We will continue our mission and we thank each of you. - DeAnna Hutton

Virginia was born November 15, 1918 in Spurgeon, Missouri to Lottie and Russell Thompson. Her father Russell served during World War 1, where he died during the 1918 flu pandemic that took the lives of millions of young soldiers. Virginia carried the sorrow of never knowing him throughout her life.

Prior to moving to Butler, the Hiltons lived in Chanute, Kansas, a community where she established Hiltons’ Kennel. She bred and sold a variety of AKC puppies throughout the United States, boarded pets, and operated a dog grooming business.

Virginia lovingly crocheted at least one afghan for each family member at some point during their lives and regularly baked pies and cookies for her loved ones, friends, and fundraisers. Her other hobbies included sewing, reading, and spending time with family. She always loved a challenging game of pool and stayed abreast of politics well into her 90s. Virginia was a member of the Bates County Memorial Hospital Volunteers and the Butler Home Improvement Club.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, to whom she was married for 70 years, William Dean Hilton, her father Russell Thompson, mother Lottie Stevens, stepfather Mark Stevens, grandson Matthew Friederich, a sister Clara Hammer of Bartlesville, OK., and Son-in-law Dale Friederich.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia J. Friederich of Butler, MO., son Russell D. Hilton and wife Jackie of Lawrence, KS., a sister Evelyn Tomblin of Laguna Hills, CA., a brother Ralph Stevens of Topeka, KS., six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
