Traffic stop leads to three arrests in Henry County

According to Sheriff Kent Oberkrom, Deputy Lambirth arrested three people for various drug and weapon charges. On Sunday morning, May 6, 2018 just after 2:00 a.m. Deputy Lambirth conducted a traffic stop in Windsor. 

Located in the vehicle were several opiate based drugs along with approximately one pound of marijuana. Also in the vehicle were two handguns one which had the serial number ground off.

Arrested on a 24 hour hold were Ross Kellerman, 19, of Independence for distribution of barbiturates, distribution of marijuana, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a defaced firearm; Dallas Sizemore, 23, of Leeton for distribution of barbiturates, distribution of marijuana; Bethany Hamline, 24, of Windsor for distribution of barbiturates, distribution of marijuana, unlawful possession of firearm.

Hume Community News 5/8/18

The community of Hume wishes to extend their sympathy to the family of Kevin Dale. I have a lot of fond memories of being in the park decorating for Christmas with Kevin and his family, he and his Dad made the stars, trees and candy canes that go around the top of the park. Kevin will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

The O5O Club will meet for a carry in dinner at noon on Monday, May 14 at the community center in Hume.

The Hume Fair dates are July 31 through August 4, 2018. We are looking for Prince & Princess Candidates ages 5 to 12 years old and Rodeo Queen Candidates 13 to 18 years old. If interested call 660-643-7637 or 7121.

A wedding reception was held on Saturday, May 5 at the Legion Hall in Hume to honor Aaron and Elizabeth Brooks Lofquest. Congratulations to the couple as they begin their new journey in life.

A 50th birthday celebration was held on Saturday evening, May 5 for Loren Bogan at his home in Prescott. Happy Birthday, Loren!

Congratulations to the Hume Bands and all those who went to the Music Contest in Fort Scott last Saturday. So very proud of all of you on the hard work you do along with your music teacher, Mrs. Dale.

Class 2 Sectional Tournament! Unfortunately no one advanced to state. It was a fun season!! We finished with a conference championship, 5 All-Conference, and 4 All-District.








Two vehicle accident in Montrose

On 5/7/18 around 7:10pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County along with Henry County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at Missouri 52 Highway and 2nd Street in Montrose.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2008 Ford Escape driven by 33 year old Michelle L. Parmalee of Osceola, Missouri failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the 2006 Chrysler Mini Van driven by 37 year old Denise A. Fast of Montrose.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries in this accident and both of them were transported by ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri for treatment.

Both vehicles recieved extensive damages and were towed from the scene by Bray's Tow and MTA Auto.

Kingsville woman injured in Cass County Crash

On 5/7/18 around 3:55pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on E Highway just south of VV Highway in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by 30 year old Alexis J. Sisson of Kingsville, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Alexis J. Sisson sustained moderate injures in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Lees Summit Medical Center for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Stever Auto Recovery of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Strong to Isolated Severe Storms are possible this evening



Well, it seems we've gone from Winter to Summer! The calendar turned to May and Mother Nature flipped a switch! April was the 2nd coldest on the 130-year record for KC...the first week of May was the 15th warmest! However, we will have some Spring-like storms this evening into tonight. Some storms will be strong with an isolated severe storm possible.

Obituary - Glenn Allen Riley

Glenn Allen Riley, age 81, of Sugar Valley Lakes near Mound City, Kansas passed away on Saturday May 5, 2018 at Prescott Country View. He was born on May 31, 1936 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Lewis and Beulah Lewis Riley. He graduated from Parker High School in the Class of 1954. He married Josephine Wilson on June 1, 1955. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #2. He worked most of his career as a golf cart mechanic for EZ Go in Olathe, Kansas. 

He was a talented wood worker and carpenter as well. Glenn was a member of the Mound City Christian Church and the American Legion Hewitt New Post #248. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosa Louis Eastwood. Glenn is survived by his wife Josephine, a daughter, Teresa Riley, two grandchildren, Andre and Savannah Rentie, five great grandchildren: Jaxen, Jensen, Jhett, Leland and Gabriella, and five nieces: Joanne, Linda, Debbie, Denise and Brenda.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday May 9, 2018 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Mapleton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 am to service time at the Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to Avalon Hospice or Mound City Christian Church. Obituary - Kevin Lee Dale

Kevin Lee Dale, 58, of Hume, Missouri, died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at KU Medical Center. He was born March 3, 1960 in Ft. Scott, Kansas, the son of Lennie and Evelyn McCormick Dale. 

He graduated from Hume High School in 1978. Kevin started his family in 1980 with the birth of his first daughter, Amanda, a son, Wesley in 1982 and a daughter, Deanna in 1983. He married Ruth Black on November 15, 1985 and in 1987 had a daughter, Kimberley. Kevin was a member of the Hume Christian Church. 

He worked for Batesco Quarries which then became Ash Grove Aggregates, for 37 years. He was a mechanic, welder, heavy equipment operator and just the go to guy when someone needed help. Everyone knew that Kevin would have the answer, no matter the problem. Kevin was a jack of all trades, he loved cooking with his momma, watching cooking shows, reading cookbooks cover to cover and spending time with his family. Kevin loved his family dearly and his greatest joy was being grandpa cookie. 

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home, three daughters: Amanda Kirkland and Steve of Pittsburg, Kansas, Deanna Lewis and Roscoe of Hume, Missouri, Kimberley Dale of the home, one son, Wesley Dale of Rich Hill, Missouri, his father, Lennie Dale of Hume, Missouri, a sister, Sharyl Dale of Hume, nine grandchildren: Jeremy Lewis of Pittsburg, Kansas, Blake Lewis, Dalen Lewis, Bryce Lewis, Evie-Lyn Lewis, Lincoln Lewis, all of Hume, Missouri, Joseph and Michael Dale of the home, Royann Dale of Rich Hill, Missouri, one great grandchild; Brooklyn Lewis, many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn in 2012.

Funeral service will be held 10 am Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Hume Christian Church. Burial will be in the Hume Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at the Church.
