Drexel Police Department is taking applications for a part time officer.
Applicant must have their Post Certification and must be available to work evenings and weekends.

Drugs and Guns seized after traffic stop in Henry County
Sheriff Kent Oberkrom reports that on Sunday, May 13, 2018 just after 9:00 p.m. Deputy Lambirth stopped a vehicle on Highway 13 south of Clinton for a lane violation.
A strong odor of marijuana was coming from within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed several pounds of marijuana, brownies (suspected of containing marijuana), and a substantial quantity of suspected hashish. The three occupants of the vehicle were all arrested and transported to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Keeneth W. Wesley Jr, 23, Las Vegas, Nevada for unlawful delivery of controlled substance by manufacture or distributor (marijuana), unlawful possession of firearm, failed to drive on right half of roadway, operate vehicle without license;
Jermel Q. Flowers, 24, Hagerstown, Maryland for unlawful delivery of controlled substance by manufacture or distributor (marijuana), unlawful possession of firearm;
Taylor S. Mayes, 21, Cypress Texas, for unlawful delivery of controlled substance by manufacture or distributor (marijuana), unlawful possession of firearm, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation into this group is on-going.

Update: Juvenile arrested for making bomb threat at Henry County School

Bomb threat at school
According to Sheriff Kent Oberkrom, the Calhoun High School received a bomb threat on Monday, May 14, 2018 just after 11:00 a.m.
The High School was evacuated and school staff along with members of the Sheriff’s Office searched the building for any suspicious packages or items that were out of place. Nothing was found during the search. The school district notified parents and school resumed for the remainder of the day. The investigation into the matter is continuing by the Sheriff’s Office.
UPDATE: On Tuesday, May 15, 2018 a 15 year old juvenile was taken into custody, by Deputy Adams, regarding the bomb threat made to the Calhoun High School on May 14, 2018. The juvenile was released to the custody of his parent pending action by the juvenile authorities.

Updated Obituary - Darrell Earnest Harden
Darrell Earnest Harden, 83, of Nevada, MO went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Webb City Health and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness. Darrell was born July 7, 1934 in Walker, MO to John Raymond and Willa Rose (Edson) Harden. He was raised in Walker and attended Walker School.
Darrell married Ramona Maxine Long on November 16, 1956 and they made their home in Nevada. Together they had two children, Debbie and Chester.
Darrell worked many years at Key Industries and TufNut in Nevada. He was a member of Spoken Word Tabernacle in Moundville, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona, Nevada; daughter, Debra Maxine (Harden) Savant, Nevada; son, Chester Ray Harden, Joplin; granddaughter, Chrissy Savant; brother, Donald Harden (Shirley); sister, Letha Kuppa; sister-in-law, Sherrie Praiswater; brother-in-law, Vernon Brundridge; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Magarette Kitsmiller, Gladys Newby, Rosemary Brundridge; and three brothers, Allen Harden, Marion Harden, and Charles Harden.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, MO. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Walker, MO. The family will receive friends from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
