CASS COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction along north and southbound Interstate 49 between 223rd Street and 245th Street (between Peculiar and Harrisonville) on Monday, June 4 beginning at 9 a.m. until approximately November.

Traffic will be shifted to one side of I-49 so that crews can conduct bridge rehabilitations at East Branch South Grand River at I-49. This work will have impacts on traffic along I-49 in this area. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, leave early, and if necessary, look for an alternate route. Scout alternate routes at www.kcscout.net. All work is weather permitting.

Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.

Football Sign Ups In Butler

Butler Youth Football Federation will be set up at the baseball fields (near the backstop of the boys 1-6 field), from 7pm -8pm next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for sign-ups.

While it seems a little early to be thinking about football, there is some concern about what our sign up numbers will be this year, about how many teams we will be able to have and what age groups those will be; so we are trying to get out ahead of any issues.

Fees for this season will stay the same: $100 for tackle and $45 for flag. Please plan to pay fees at time of sign-up, but note we will hold all checks until August 1st… until we can be sure we will have teams for players. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Save the fox kinda morning!

On 05/30/2018 at 4:00 am Harrisonville Police officers located a male fox on the side of the roadway with injuries. Officers felt that if given proper treatment the fox could recover.

One of the Officers and his spouse transported the fox to Giddyup Rescue in Cleveland, MO.

We thank Officer Totten (and his wife) Sgt. Pearce, and Officer Briggs, for instead of euthanizing the animal, went the extra mile to tend to the needs of the injured animal.
