Obituary - Gladys Faye Wichael

Funeral services for Gladys Faye Wichael, 86 of Bolivar, Missouri formerly of Butler, Missouri will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am immediately prior to services at the chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Gladys Faye Wichael died Saturday, June 30, 2018 in Bolivar, Missouri. She was born November 8, 1931 in Glenco, Oklahoma the daughter of of Morris Jefferson Fitzpatrick and Robbie R. Edge Fitzpatrick. Gladys had worked as a food supervisor in the Pine Tree Nursing Home in Butler and later at the Willow Lane Nursing Center in Butler before moving to Bolivar in 1993.

Gladys is survived by two daughters; Rebecca McCown of Bolivar, Missouri and Wanda Randolph of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; as well as several grand and great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives.


Updated Obituary - Megan Rochell Simons-Smith

Megan Rochell Simons-Smith, age 27, Garnett, Kansas formerly of Mound City, Kansas died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 as the result of an accident. Megan was born on October 19, 1990 at Fort Scott, Kansas the daughter of David and Virginia Nation Simons. She graduated from Jayhawk Linn High School in the Class of 2009. 

While in high school she was very active in the Kansas High School Rodeo Association. After high school she received her Associate''s Degree from Fort Scott Community College and attended Pittsburg State University. She was married to Drew Smith. To this union, two children were born. The marriage ended in divorce. Megan was employed by Osawatomie USD #367 as the librarian for the elementary school. 

She was able to make a positive impact on many young peoples lives in this position. She was fond of animals, liked being and outdoors and working on the farm with her fiance, Tim Milner. 

Loving and caring for her children were the most important part of Megan''s life. She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Carol Nation and grandfather, Jerald Simons. Megan is survived by her fiance, Tim Milner, father, David Simons, mother, Virginia Maring and husband Ron, a daughter, Ashlyn Smith, a son, Sterling Smith, a brother, Matt Simons and wife Stephanie, a sister, Kristin Simons, and other extended family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9 am Monday, July 2, 2018 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Scipio, Kansas. Burial will be in the Colbert Cemetery, Mound City, Kansas. Rosary will be prayed at 4 pm Sunday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Visitation will follow until 6 pm.

Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest Mods, B-Mods, A-Mods and Late Models will all be competing for weekly points and prize money!

Gates will open at 4:30pm, Driver Cutoff at 6:30pm, Hot Laps at 7:00pm, with Racing to be underway at 7:30pm.
Admission Prices will be $10 for all Adults, $5 for Kids ages 6-12, and any Kids under 6 are FREE!

Pit Passes will be $25 for Adults, $35 for Drivers, $15 for Kids ages 6-12, and any Kids under 6 are FREE!

Garden City man arrested in Lafayette County

On 6/30/18 around 9:31pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Lafayette County arrested 21 year old Samuel E. Winnie of Garden City, Missouri.

Mr. Winnie was arrested for 1.) Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance 2.) Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana 3.) Misdemeanor Johnson County Warrant - Drug Paraphernalia 4.) No Seatbelt 5.) Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana 6.) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Lafayette County Sheriffs Office in Lexington, Missouri and currently listed as bondable.

Butler man arrested on warrants in Bates County

On 6/30/18 around 10:55pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 30 year old Jesus J. Selfridge of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Selfridge was arrested for 1.) Felony Bates County Sheriff's Office Warrant - Stealing a Motor Vehicle 2.) Misdemeanor Clinton Police Department Warrant -Peace Disturbance 3.) (7)Misdemeanor Butler Police Department Warrants - Traffic Violations.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and placed on a $10,000 Cash/Surety bond.
