Bates County Coroner Activity Report 6/15-6/30-2018

Activity Report for the period June 15 – June 30, 2018:

· 3 Nursing Home/Hospice type deaths were reported for the period. None required further investigation.

· On June 22, 2018 at approximately 6:13 AM the Coroner was called to a residence on W. Clark St. in Butler. Mr. James Laughlin was pronounced by Coroner Greg Mullinax with death a result of natural causes.

The Hume RVIII School is accepting sealed bids for diesel fuel and trash services for the 2018-2019 school year.

Thursday Afternoon Storms

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are starting up pop up along the Missouri River and over north central Missouri. These storms are not expected to be severe, but isolated gusts up to 40-50mph is possible along with frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.

The storms over western MO are expected to dissipate around 5pm but storms over central MO may last through sunset.

Maintenance Technician 2nd shift

This position will be required to keep track of maintenance programs, do preventive maintenance, and do corrective action maintenance. The ideal candidate needs to have a strong understanding of mechanics, welding, and/or electric. 

Must be willing to have flexible hours including some weekend work. Must be willing to work in dirty environments and not scared of heights.

Back to School Sales Tax Holiday in Missouri

By Missouri state law, the sales tax holiday begins on the first Friday in August and continues through the following Sunday. Certain back-to-school purchases, such as clothing, school supplies, computers, and other items as defined by the statute, are exempt from sales tax for this time period only.

In 2018, the Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 3rd, and runs through Sunday, August 5th.

Information for cities, counties, and districts not participating in the 2018 Sales Tax Holiday, 2018 Rate Tables, and 2018 Rate Cards will be updated and posted prior to the start of the 2018 Sales Tax Holiday event.
