He was the only son of Medford Oren and Goldie Georgia (Rountree) Purvis, born on January 6, 1923 in Ohio community in rural St. Clair County, Missouri. He graduated from Appleton City High School in 1939. During this time he met and married Wilma Loene Muchmore on March 20, 1940. After fulfilling his duty, Kenneth began a lifelong career in auto mechanics, working at Chevrolet dealerships until he opened his own business in Grandview from 1969 to 1988. Apart from his work, the great pleasure of Kenneth’s life was restoring cars. He further enjoyed going out to eat, which he did every day, and would go twice a day if allowed. Kenneth also enjoyed dancing and listening to the music played by his sons’ band. Everyone that knew him remarked that he always had smile on his face. Yet most of all he dearly loved his family, always spending as much time with his children and grandchildren as possible. They were the light of his life. He was a devoted member of his church, where he remained a dedicated follower of Christ for many years, concluding his life by greeting his savior as an old friend. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
