From the Butler Fire Department

On Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 3:42 a.m. the Butler Fire Department was dispatched to the home of Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson in Passaic for a reported structure fire. At 3:47 units arrived on scene and found heavy fire coming from the rear of the structure. 

The house was a total loss with heavy fire and heat damage throughout. 

Missouri State Fire Marshall deemed the cause of the fire as accidental in nature. 

Units were released from the scene at 8:24. Butler Fire received mutual aid assistance from Adrian, Rich Hill, Amsterdam and Central Cass Fire and Bates County Ambulance. 

All occupants were out of the residence upon arrival. There were no injuries.





Mine Creek Civil War Battlefield State Historic Site Heritage Day

Join us Saturday August 4th from 10am-3pm for Heritage Day, a special event at Mine Creek Civil War Battlefield State Historic Site at 20485 KS Highway 52, Pleasanton, Kansas 66075

This annual event features a Civil War artillery demonstration. Plus blacksmith, Dutch oven cooking, leather works, and much more. 

Experts will be on hand from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. to help visitors identify their own objects and artifacts . Admission is Adults $5 and Students $2.

From the city of Pleasanton Kansas

(Pleasanton,Kansas) On Monday, August 6th, Sixth Street from Holly Street to the Railroad Tracks and Sixth Street west of Cedar will be closed for road improvements. 

DO NOT drive through the road barriers and construction cones! 

You will still be able to cross the tracks at Park Street, 10th Street, 9th Street and 2nd Street. 

Please use one of these alternate routes, while the contractor is working to improve this road!


Update: Missing Warsaw boy found safe

Julie Darnell and Grayson Darnell have been located and are with the Moniteau County Sheriffs Department. 

The Warsaw Police Department would like to thank all the citizens with there tips and information, as well as a thank you to all the Local, County, State, and Federal agencies that assisted and helped to locate Julie and Grayson. WPD is thankful everyone is ok and safe.

August Heat turning up!



Despite the recent cooler weather, it is still Summer and August has arrived to make sure no one forgets. While this morning’s cool temperatures will range from upper 50s to low 60s, today’s highs will reach the mid 80s. 

The next several days will see temperatures rise to highs near 90 and lows warming to the low 70s. Skies will remain mostly sunny, and unfortunately, the chance of any precipitation will remain very low for much of eastern Kansas and western Missouri.

Structure Fire In Passaic

The Butler Fire Department along with Amsterdam Fire Department, Central Cass Fire, Adrian Fire Department, Rich Hill fire, Bates County EMS, Bates County Sheriff's Deputies are on scene of a house fire across from McBee's in Passaic at this time.

The home is owned by Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson and no one was home at the time of the fire.

A State Fire Marshal is in route to investigate this fire at this time.
