Stockton man killed in Cedar County Fatality Accident

On 8/1/18 around 12:00pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cedar County along with Cedar County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle fatality accident on route N around 7 miles north of Stockton, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2008 Dodge 3500 driven by 56 year old Gary L Cooper of Stockton, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway, driver overcorrected and traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

Mr. Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and he was transported to Bland-Brumback Funeral Home in Stockton, Missouri.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Mike's Tow of Stockton, Missouri.

Harrisonville man arrested after one vehicle crash in Cass County

On 7/31/18 around 10:30pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on B Highway just west of E 347th Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Isuzu driven by 34 year old Dane M. Onnen of Harrisonville, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned.

Mr. Onnen sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Dane M. Onnen was charged with 1.) Driving while Intoxicated 2.) Failure to maintain right half of the roadway 3.)Driving while suspended.

He was released to seek medical treatment for his injuries.

Obituary - Trudy Marie Allmer

Trudy Marie Allmer, 57, Nevada, MO passed away on Wednesday, August 01, 2018 at Nevada Nursing and Rehab following a brief illness. Trudy was born December 10, 1960 in Kansas City, MO to John D. and Mary Fern (McNamara) Allmer.

Trudy was raised in KC and came to Nevada at age 14 and graduated from Nevada High School with the Class of 1979. 

She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Thomas Moore, Orthodontist in Nevada for more than 10 years, and as a receptionist for Deanna E. Francis Tax Service this past year. Trudy was a volunteer at St. Mary’s School in Nevada, was a longtime supporter of NHS Athletics, and also worked at Challenge and Change for a time. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nevada.

Survivors include three children, Matthew J. Holt and his wife Amy, Marshfield, MO, Amanda M. Prine and her husband Lee, Nevada, MO, Joseph D. Young, Nevada, MO; her loving partner, Troy Young; five grandchildren, Cayden Holt, Brooklynn Holt, Izzabella Holt, Aubrey Prine, Lynleigh Prine. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nevada with Rev. Peter Savidge officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Family in c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Obituary - Marie Jane Meyer

Marie Meyer, 97 of Louisburg, Kansas passed away July 31, 2018 at North Point Skilled Nursing Center in Paola, Kansas. A visitation will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Louisburg First Christian Church, Louisburg, Kansas. 

Graveside services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, August 4, 2018 in Bucyrus Cemetery, Bucyrus, Kansas. Services under the direction of Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (660-679-0009).

Marie Jane Meyer was born August 13, 1920 in Owensville, Missouri to William and Lizzie Lalk Lockhart. On November 27, 1937 she was united in marriage to Richard Meyer in Otterville, Missouri. To this union six children were born. Marie was always a hard worker, she raised her family and worked as a machine operator in a sewing factory. After retirement she kept busy doing what she loved, spending time with family.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, by brothers Fred, Benny, and George Lockhart, and by her sister Eda Jenkins. She is survived by her children, sons, John, Larry, Paul, and Sam Meyer and daughters, Donna Cook and Carolyn Meyer, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Search Warrants Served in Eldorado Springs

Search Warrants Served:

On July 26, 2018, officers of the El Dorado Springs Police Department assisted Deputies of the Cedar County Sheriff's Office serving a Search Warrant at 1649 East 126 Road, El Dorado Springs, after receiving information of illegal drug activity. Officers located illegal drug paraphernalia. This investigation is continuing.

Also, on July 26, 2018, officers of the El Dorado Springs Police Department served a Search Warrant at 300 East Gentry Street, after receiving information of illegal drug activity. Officers located illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. The investigation resulted in the arrests of Delores Applebee, 69, Tina Applebee, 34, Brandee Lawson, 41, Diamond L Marshall, 20, and Eric M. Tompkins, 33, of El Dorado Springs, charging them with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were released on summonses pending a court appearance. Additional, charges are expected in this case.

Semi truck rollover in Cass County

TRAFFIC ALERT:

There is an overturned truck on the southbound exit ramp from I-49 that exits onto Mechanic Street (2 Highway). There could be lane closures as officers work this accident. 

Good news is it doesn't appear that there are any injuries. We'll keep you updated.

UPDATE: the southbound exit ramp from I-49 to 2 Highway and the ramp from 2 Highway southbound onto I-49 with both be closed.
