Obituary - Lois Keating Harrison

Lois Keating Harrison, age 89, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. She was born on October 23, 1928 at Iola, Kansas the daughter of Lester and Zelma Davidson Casteel. She graduated from Mound City High School. She married Thomas Keating. To this union, three sons were born. He preceded her in death. She later married Bud Harrison who also preceded her in death. Lois worked as a beautician. Lois enjoyed playing golf and was a talented painter. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Max Casteel and Vance Hyson. Lois is survived by three sons: Edward and Debbie, Jerry and Pam and David and Dawn, a sister, Judy Tervin, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Mound City, Kansas. 

Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 am Saturday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.

Obituary - Terry L. Baker

Terry L. Baker, 70, Urich, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at his home.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Baker.

Terry is survived by his wife, Roberta Baker of the home; two sons, Mathew Baker and wife Kim, Archie, Missouri and Mark Baker and wife Danyelle, Butler, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Gabriel, Katlyn, Nathan, Chesnie, Cade and Joshua; two great-grandchildren, Cori and Ty; a brother, Charles Baker, Greenbrier, Arkansas; two sisters, Joyce Stritch and Jane Lemmer and husband Bob all of Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with Military Honors to follow.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2018 at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.

Harrisonville man killed in Jackson County motorcycle crash

On 8/2/18 around 8:15pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Jackson County along with Lees Summit Police Department responded to a two vehicle accident on I-470 at US 50 Highway in Lees Summit.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the right rear portion of the 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by 26 year old Haleigh Bowlin of Blue Spring, Missouri struck the 2002 Harley Davidson driven by 55 year old Kevin W. Dawson of Harrisonville, Missouri causing it to overturn and eject the rider.

Mr. Dawson was pronounced dead around 8:51pm by Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Harley was totaled and towed from the scene by Ron's Tow. This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 42nd Fatality Accident of 2018.

Obituary - Lawrence L. Loney

Lawrence L. Loney, age 77, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on August 1st, 2018.

A Visitation Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Monday, August 6th located at 1111 W Foxwood Dr, Raymore, MO 64083 at 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. 

A Burial will take place at the Raymore Cemetery located in Raymore, Missouri following the Funeral Service.

Obituary - Kenneth Merle "Gibby" Gibson

Kenneth Merle “Gibby” Gibson, 39, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. Gibby was born November 1, 1978 in Nevada, MO to Sandra Lee Gibson and Randy Allen Kalm.
Gibby was raised in Nevada and attended school there. He loved to fish, and work with wood. For many years he worked with his grandfather at Gibson’s Tree Service.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jenna, his grandfather, Robert Gibson, and grandmother, Florence Gibson.

Survivors include his mother, Sandy Stevenson, Nevada, MO; father, Randy Kalm, Oklahoma City, OK; brothers, Andy Kalm, Nevada, Brantley Kalm, Oklahoma City; nieces, Ashley Hewitt, Nevada, and Kaydenn Coy, Nevada.

Kenneth loved his family and his friends, and will be sadly missed by many.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Family in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

There will be a dinner following the service at Elk's Lake in Compton Junction.



Butler woman injured in Bates County rollover accident

On 8/2/18 around 3:50pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on K Highway at Missouri 52 west.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Toyota Corolla driven by 37 year old Tiffany L. Wisdom of Butler, Missouri traveled off the roadway and striking a culvert causing the vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its top.

Tiffany L. Wisdom sustained minor injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Douty's Tow of Butler, Missouri.

Eldorado Springs man injured in concrete truck rollover accident

On 8/2/18 around 9:42am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cedar County responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Missouri 82 Highway around 1 mile north of El Dorado Springs, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1987 Ford LT900 concrete truck driven by 70 year old Lynn M. Smith of Eldorado Springs, Missouri was attempting to get out a embankment and overturned.

Mr. Smith sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by private vehicle to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The truck received extensive damages and it was towed from the scene by Mike's Towing of Collins, Missouri.
