Obituary - Richard “Cris” Spratt

Richard “Cris” Spratt, 68, of Milo, MO passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin following a brief illness. Cris was born January 13, 1950 in Butler, MO to Richard Felix and Betty Lee (Bainter) Spratt. On March 16, 1974 he was united in marriage to Joyce Dean Hancock in Nevada and she survives of the home.

Cris was raised in the Butler and Hume area. He graduated from Hume High School in 1968. From 1969-1971 he served in the United States Navy as a cook on the USS Okinawa seeing time in the Philippines, New Zealand, and Hawaii. Cris spent most of his life in law enforcement. He was employed by the Nevada Police Department for 12 years followed by an additional 20 years at the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department where he served as Chief Deputy under three different Sheriff’s. He was a member of Knob Noster Restoration Branch of the RLDS Church. Cris enjoyed being on the farm, hunting and fishing, and taking care of his animals.

In addition to his wife Joyce, survivors include three sons, Rick Spratt and his wife Kristi, Blue Ridge, TX, David Spratt and his wife Jacquelin Harrisonville, MO, Matt Spratt and his wife Melissa, Holden, MO; four grandchildren, Lucas, Trenton, Courtney, and Megan; his mother-in-law; one sister; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Elder Michael Brown, Elder Melvin Quick, and Elder Michel Vick officiating. Interment will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to the American Cancer Society in c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.



Obituary - Emma Ella Rayburn

Emma Ella Rayburn, age 4, LaHarpe, Kansas, passed away on August 5, 2018, at the Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola, Kansas. Emma was born prematurely at two pounds, ten ounces, with a rare genetic syndrome on November 9, 2013, in Iola, Kansas, to Kyle and Cassidy Cole Rayburn.
Emma will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her sweet giggle. She loved being kissed, being cuddled, sang to, going fast with her dad, and all the time she spent with mom. She enjoyed having her brother pushing her on the swing and going swimming. She attended pre-school, where she enjoyed her teachers and her other classmates. Emma was a fighter from the beginning, whose strength was an inspiration to all. She never left you without a smile.
Emma was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Gene Cochran, Luella Cochran, Gale Mullins, Lewis Rayburn, and Betty Rayburn.
Emma is survived by her parents, brother, Ryder Rayburn of the home; grandparents, Chris and Annette Cole, Moran, and Darwin and Pam Bennett, Iola; great-grandparents, Jim and Anna Cole, Moran, Elaine Mullins, Nevada, Missouri, Tom and Pat Bennett, Clinton, Missouri; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service honoring Emma's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Chapel, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas.
Memorials are requested to the Emma Ella Rayburn Memorial Fund, and may be left at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola.

Obituary - Paul W. Wilson

Paul Waren Wilson age 44 of Clinton, MO passed away Sunday August 5th. A funeral service for Paul will be on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11AM at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Missouri with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Logan's College Fund and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Paul leaves behind his son Logan Wilson and his Mother Jennifer Dempsey Wilson of Clinton. He also leaves behind his beloved parents, Dennis and Shirley Wilson, Maternal Grandmother Alberta Louise Crawford, one brother Jeremy Wilson and wife Chrissy, two nephews Hayden and Riley Wilson along with a host of cousins, family, and friends.
Paul was proceeded in death by his Paternal Grandparents Paul and Lena Wilson, his Maternal Grandfather Raymond Crawford, and two uncles Tommy Lynn Crawford and Raymond Earl Crawford Jr.

Elzora Ruth Nichols, 72, Nevada, MO passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Medicalodges in Nevada. Ruth was born September 4, 1945 in Rich Hill, MO to Lewis Waltszen and Bertha May (McClellan) O’Rourke.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Robert “Bob” E. Cummings, age 86, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away August 5, 2018 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, Missouri.

A Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Saint Sabina Catholic Church in Belton, Missouri, 700 Trevis Ave. Belton, Missouri 64012, with a visitation to follow. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM with an interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64138.
