From the Butler High School
Compass Dental will be at the Butler High School November 7 to provide dental exams, cleanings and sealants for students who would like to participate and have parental consent.
Compass will also be available at the Parent/Teacher conferences on October 18 with paperwork for parents and to answer any questions. Please contact the school nurse if you should have any questions.

I am personally very sad to inform you Sharon Everett of Butler passed away this afternoon at her home, surrounded by people who loved her and whom she loved. Funeral services are pending at this time and will be announced tomorrow, Friday.

2018 Adrian Fall Festival
The Adrian Fall Festival will be set for October 20th from 11am-4pm on Main Street in Adrian.

Reported missing on September 10, 2018: 15 year old Samuel McCloud.
White male approximately 5 ft. 8 in. tall weighing approximately 115 lbs. Last seen wearing a plaid button up shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

Obituary - John Charles Stevenson
Funeral services for John Stevenson will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Schowengerdt Chapel.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 17 at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Contributions to Missouri Conservation Department, American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences, www.schowengerdtchapel.com.
John Charles Stevenson, age 59 of Creighton, Missouri, formerly United States Marines, died Monday, September 10, 2018 at his home in Creighton. He was born February 1, 1959 to Paul and Joyce Elaine Hale Stevenson in Kansas City, Kansas.
John, one of five children, grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from JC Harmon High School in 1977. John’s was married to Tsuruko “Miki” and together they had Shannon. He later married Lesley and from this union, Justus was born. He was also married to Rudi and they had Tanner and Hunter. John was a true patriot and marine. He joined the Marine Corps in 1977, served in Desert Storm, Desert Shield and retired in December of 2000. Some of his numerous commendations include Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, SW Asia Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal and many more. John attended Heart of Life Church in Garden City, Missouri.
John was kind hearted, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed playing practical jokes and was a devoted father. He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar and singing and loved being outdoors--especially hunting.
John is survived by three sons, Justus Stevenson of Carthage, Missouri, Tanner Everitt and Hunter Stevenson, both of Butler, Missouri; one daughter, Shannon Stevenson of Independence, Missouri; one brother, Jim Stevenson and wife Kelly of Edwardsville, Kansas; three sisters, Conya Harris and husband Donald of Ft. Worth, Texas, Linda Portee of Kansas City, Kansas and Lisa Wollard and husband Eric of Mission, Kansas; two grandchildren, Kolton and Kinslee Stevenson; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. Also survived by survived by ex-wives and friends Lesley Stevenson and Rudi Stevenson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Bates County Democrats participated in Huckster’s Day in Butler on September 8th.
Donations were collected for the Children’s Center and Lily’s House. Thanks to all who donated to these worthy organizations.
