New Resource Officer at Harrisonville Middle School

#WelcometotheWildcatFamily:

Officer Rodney Matthews is joining the Harrisonville Middle School staff as the new School Resource Officer. He began working for the Harrisonville Missouri Police Department in May 2017, however, he’s pretty familiar with Harrisonville as he graduated from Harrisonville High School in 2012.

Prior to the HPD, Officer Matthews worked for the Sweet Springs Police Department where he attended DARE training and served as a DARE officer. Most recently he was a police and DARE officer in Garden City.

“Being a School Resource Officer has always been a career goal of mine while in law enforcement. I love to interact with kids and (hopefully) be a good role model for them as they grow up,” said Officer Matthews. He added that if he wasn’t a police officer, he’d be a social studies teacher because that was his favorite subject in school.

He said, “The thing I look forward to the most in being the new middle school SRO is being able to help and mentor students and to hopefully be a positive role model in their lives that will help them succeed, whether in school or everyday life. And of course, I look forward to the many new friends that I will make!”

Officer Matthews is married to Ashley and they have a three-year-old son, Greyson.

He said, “My door is always open. Parents, teachers, faculty staff, and students, please don't hesitate to stop me or approach me for anything! I am here for YOU!”

Welcome back to the #WildcatFamily Officer Matthews!

Thursday is still uncomfortable, but not as bad and Friday? Well, Friday is going to be just fantastic.
