Belton Police Department serves felony warrant

On 9/25/18 the Belton Police Department served a felony warrant on 18 year old Raymond L Harris III of Grandview in regard to the shooting at Second St and Walnut Sunday evening. 

The Cass County Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon (a class B felony)and Armed Criminal Action (an unclassified felony) against Mr. Harris. Mr. Harris’ bond has been set at $150,000 cash only.

Obituary - Rose Marie Brodhacker

Rose Marie Brodhacker, 61, Peculiar, MO, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, Kansas City, MO. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with burial in Peculiar Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, at the Atkinson Funeral Home.

Update: Oklahoma Truck Driver Killed in Single Vehicle Cass County Crash

Cass Co – On Tuesday September 25, around 4:30 pm Cass County Deputies were dispatched to the area of Northbound I-49 near 341st St to a roll over motor vehicle crash.

Deputies arrived on scene and found a semi-tractor and trailer overturned in an overgrown wooded area between Interstate 49 and SE Outer Rd. The time of the accident has not been determined.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Andrew M. Yoder, 63, Fairland, OK. Yoder was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The crash continues to be investigated by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team and the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Body located in a shallow pond in Cass County

On Wednesday September 26, around 3:30 pm Cass County Deputies were dispatched to an area near E 223rd and S. Prospect Ave. when a subject reported a possible body in a pond. Investigators are at the scene and confirmed a body was located in a shallow pond.

The victim has not been identified at this time. Investigators are working with the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine an identification and circumstances regarding the cause of death.

The discovery was made in an area close to where crews searched on Friday.
