One individual has died as a result of an accident this morning on Southbound I-49 between Passaic and Butler just north of the TT overpass.

I will provide information about the individual once I know that all appropriate family have been notified.

I appreciate the patience of all local traffic this morning as well as the assistance of all local emergency response agencies.

Appleton City man arrested after traffic stop

On Sept. 25, James Dodson, 24, Appleton City, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D misdemeanor driving while revoked or suspended-first offense. Dodson was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that Dodson was driving for an equipment violation. Dodson gave consent to search the vehicle.

A Mid Missouri Drug Task Force detective searched the vehicle and located a glass pipe inside the vehicle. The glass pipe did field test positive for methamphetamine.

Deepwater man arrested in St. Clair County

On Sept. 27, Blake Duncan, 34, Deepwater, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class A misdemeanor violation of order of protection for an adult. Bond is set at $2,500 cash or surety.

The arrest comes after Jennifer Duncan reported to a St. Clair County deputy that she has an order of protection on her ex-husband.

Jennifer Duncan reported Blake Duncan is only allowed to text message or call her if it regards their children.

Jennifer stated he had contacted her multiple times in regards to other issues, not pertaining to their children.

Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for October

Dickie Reinke is recognized as the Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for October, 2018.

Dickie began his employment at BCMH in 2013 as a maintenance worker in the Plant Operations Department.

Dickie continues to demonstrate commitment and a strong work ethic.

He recently worked on cleaning the cooling tower at the hospital, requiring him to climb up and down a 10-foot ladder in 95 degree weather.

The hospital recognizes Dickie’s contribution to the organization and appreciates his dedication.

Drexel Man Sentenced for Bank Robbery

A Drexel, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for robbing the U.S. Bank inside Truman Medical Center.

Jimmy Lee Bozeman II, 57, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Howard F. Sachs to 12 years and seven months in federal prison without parole.

On June 6, 2018, Bozeman pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. Bozeman stole $1,450 from U.S. Bank on March 14, 2018.

According to court documents, Bozeman demanded a bank teller give him all of her $50 and $100 bills. The teller briefly hesitated because she thought he was joking; he told her it was not a joke and he possessed a handgun. After the teller handed him money from her top drawer, he demanded the money from the second drawer.

As she was attempting to open the second drawer, a hospital cafeteria employee approached the bank to make change for the register in the cafeteria. When Bozeman turned to look at him, the teller activated the hold-up alarm. Bozeman then fled from the hospital, got into a vehicle parked nearby and left the area.

Bank surveillance photos were released to the media. Several social workers at Truman Medical Center recognized Bozeman as a former client. Bozeman’s ex-wife also identified him from the surveillance photos.

Bozeman was previously convicted of bank robbery in the Western District of Missouri in 2009. He also has prior felony convictions for robbery and armed criminal action.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Marquez. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department and the FBI.

Obituary - Jennie I. Keating

Jennie I. Keating, age 88, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on September 25, 2018 at the Belton Regional Medical Center.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 West Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org).

Light Rain and Rollercoaster Temperatures

Expect a chance of light rain and below normal temperatures for today.

Rain chances increase tonight into Saturday morning.

By Sunday, decreasing clouds will help temperatures quickly rebound into the lower 80s for Kansas City area and locations south of Kansas City.
