Nevada Regional Medical Center October Employee of the month

Congratulations to the Nevada Regional Medical Center October employee of the month, Josh Ayers, diagnostic imaging technician. He was nominated by a fellow NRMC employee: 

"Josh is always helpful and willing to do anything we ask of him, even when he doesn't have to. 

Josh cleans rooms and helped done of my patients into a wheelchair when I was busy. Thanks Josh!"

Semi Truck Fire in Cass County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Central Cass Fire Department is in route to a semi truck fire in the southbound lane of I-49 at mile marker 158 just south of Sapp Bros Travel Center in Harrisonville.

Obituary - Charlie "Clarence" Springer

Charlie "Clarence" Springer, age 94 of Prescott, Kansas passed away, Saturday, September 29.

Funeral Service will be at 10 am, Thursday, October 4 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, October 3 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial will be in the Prescott Cemetery.

The family suggests contributions to Hewitt-New Post No. 248 American Legion and may be sent in care of Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory P.O. Box 525 Pleasanton, Kansas 66075.

Marvel bridge nearing completion

Gone are the rounded steel girders as Marvel bridge takes on a new look South of Virginia on V Highway. Crews are nearly ready to pour the concrete deck to be followed with more dirt work and guard rails.  Speculation is that it will be open to traffic in a few weeks.

Obituary - Paul James Baker III

Paul James Baker III, age 71, of Deepwater, MO passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Research Hospital, Kansas City, MO.

Paul's wish was to be cremated. No service expected

Blue Springs man seriously injured in Bates County ATV Accident

On 9/29/18 around 11:00pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a ATV accident off of CR775 just south of CR2506 on private property.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2017 Polaris Sportsman 570 driven by 21 year old Elijah H. Hansen of Blue Springs, Missouri failed to negotiate a curve, traveled through some trees and struck a tree ejecting the rider.

Mr. Hansen sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler for treatment.

The ATV was totaled and left at the scene of the accident for later removal.
