Obituary -Sharon A. Clark

Sharon Ann (Baker) Clark, 74, Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life surrounded by love and family on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Glen Clark; three daughters, Sherry (Todd) Proch, Harrisonville, Missouri, Kim (Sterling) Haynes, Branson, Missouri, Glenda (Brett) Barber, Harrisonville, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, Blake (Kelcie) Barber, Justin Meyer, Ashley (Storm) Coakley, Alishia (Logan) Woodward; Rachel (Brett) Beckham, Spencer Proch, Asa Meyer and Claire Barber; 4 great-grandchildren, Charlee and Paislee Meyer, Ava and Winton Coakley; two sisters, Janice Hall, Raymore, Missouri, Linda Jones, Warsaw, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in Clearfork Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2018 at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Clearfork Cemetery Association.

Obituary - Earl L. “Buster” Rogers

Earl L. “Buster” Rogers, 95 of Nevada, MO passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 following a brief illness. Earl was born December 3, 1922 in Mulvane, KS to E.N. and Leona (Harmon) Rogers. He was united in marriage to Marjorie L. Josepeit on January 24, 1945 in Goodland, KS and she preceded him in death on September 23, 2013.

Earl was raised in Kansas and Colorado graduating from Eastonville High School in El Paso County, Colorado. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Taylor stationed in San Diego during WWII. In 1951 Earl and his family came to Richards, MO where he farmed and raised cattle all of his life. Earl was a longtime member of Richards Christian Church and more recently attended Rinehart Christian Church. His memberships included: Richards and Nevada Masonic Lodges, founding member of McGinnis Youth Center, member of Richards School Board for a number of years, he was involved in 4-H Club and project leader for various 4-H projects, Nevada R-5 School Board member and past president from 1973 – 1978, received the 40 year award for Outstanding Service to the USDA Farm Service Agency and the Producers of Vernon County, member of Richards and Nevada O.E.S., Board Member of Federal Land Bank, member and past president - Vernon County Youth Fair Board, member of Stotesbury Grange, NW Vernon County Water Board Member, and a member of Vernon County Wranglers Saddle Club. He also enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles with Shirley.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Verman and her husband Eldon, Independence, MO, Jacqueline Linn and her husband Jimmie, Bronaugh, MO, Shirley Peckman and her husband Ron, Richards, MO; seven grandchildren, Brian Verman and his wife Allison, Independence, Missouri, Staci Ringwald and her husband Steve, Batesville, AR, Scott Linn and his wife Nancy, Rogersville, MO, Ryan Linn and his wife Monica, Bronaugh, MO, Ty Peckman and his wife Jaelyn, Centralia, MO, Courtney Hanson and her husband Ryne, Richards, MO, Meagan Nehr and her husband Adam, Sheldon, MO; 11 great-grandchildren, John Verman, Matthew Murphy, Taylor Stratford, J.R. Stratford, Jenna Linn, Jolie Linn, Madison Hanson, James Nehr, Sophia Nehr, Aubrey Nehr, Lynlee Nehr; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Kevin Moyers officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Newton Burial Park. A Masonic Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home with Visitation following from 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Vernon County Youth Fair or McGinnis Youth Center in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

Obituary - Ruby Meredith


Funeral services for Ruby Meredith will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

 Visitation will be prior to services from 10:30-11 a.m. Monday at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri.

Ruby Evelyn LeNeve Motta Meredith, age 95 of Lewiston, Idaho, formerly of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at her home in Lewiston. Ruby, the only child of Henry Romanus and Mary Susie Estella (Main) LeNeve, was born at home in Kansas City, Missouri April 28, 1923.

Ruby is survived by her son Russell Motta and his wife Sandy of Grinnell, Iowa and their three sons, Stewart, Lucas, and Samuel; and her daughter Michelle Lustig and her husband Steve of Lewiston, Idaho and their two daughters and son-in-law, Matt & Nadia Frye and Greta Lustig.


Shoplifting leads to high speed chase; two arrested

On Monday October 1, around 9:15 pm a Cass County K9 Unit responded to the area of Towne Center Drive after hearing reports of a shoplifting from Kohl’s Department Store. The deputy arrived in the area and located two subjects loading clothing into a car parked in the middle of the roadway with no lights on. The deputy attempted to stop the subjects who got into the vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed.

Belton Police were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device on the suspect vehicle as it fled northbound on I-49 at E. 163rd St deflating 3 tires.

The vehicle exited 150 Hwy and I-49 where the driver fled on foot from the vehicle. The Cass County Sheriff’s Deputy who was pursuing deployed his K9 and apprehended the driver. A passenger was taken into custody without incident.

The driver was treated and released at the scene by Kansas City Fire Department. Both suspects were transported to the Belton Jail. Charges are pending at this time.
