Almost moving time!

Great news ! It’s finally time to move Summit School. All the site preparation has been completed. A space in the tree line has been cleared to let the school pass thru from the farm field to its final location. A gravel road has been spread so the vehicles won’t get stuck.

The exact location was determined and Koehn Construction cleared the site, excavated and poured the footing for the block foundation.

Coordinating with the moving company, the week of October 28th is now set for the move – weather permitting. We’ll update as soon as we have an exact date for the move so you can come out and watch the school travel down the highway.

A tremendous and grateful thanks to all who made donations to get us this far. We couldn’t have done it without your help. - Courtesy of Poplar Heights Living History Farm

Obituary - Eva M. Jones

Eva M. Jones, age 89, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri 64724.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, Missouri 64145.

Eva was born on March 5, 1929 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Larkin Pinder and Earl Bean.

Eva was raised by her Granny Kate in Louisiana, who instilled in her the very fabric of being a refined, impeccably dressed Christian southern lady. She was also outgoing, vivacious and hard working. She worked for dry cleaning businesses and eventually owned Pine Street Cleaners in Raymore, Missouri.

She resided on a pristine country estate in Peculiar, Missouri with her husband Dale, son Larry, and beloved dog Trudy. One of the dearest things to her heart was spending one on one time with her sons Ray and Larry. Her love for Dale and their horses kept her in the county even though she was a city girl at heart. Eva spent most of her time traveling into town to visit all the people she cared about. Her other pastimes were watching KC Chiefs, Fox News, reading biographies and dancing. She also stayed busy with hand delivering her cakes made with love.

Eva never knew a stranger and always greeted you with a big smile and a kiss. We love you dearly Eva, you will forever be missed.

Eva is preceded in death by her loving husband Dale E. Jones; son Larry D. Jones; and parents Larkin and Earl Pinder. She is survived by son Ray Wood.

Arrangements: Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, Missouri, 816.322.5278
