Obituary - Betty Tenholder

Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Tenholder will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Monday evening, October 8 followed by Rosary Services at 7 p.m. at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Tenholder, age 84 of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. She was born June 3, 1934 to Andrew Henry and Margaret Elizabeth Bergschneider Kanter in Clinton, Missouri.

Betty is survived by three sons, James “Jim” Tenholder and wife Lisa of Butler, Missouri, Darrell Tenholder and wife Donna of Adrian, Missouri and Kenneth “Kenny” Tenholder and wife Dawn of Butler, Missouri; a daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Hughes and husband Phillip of Butler, Missouri; eight sisters, Mary Ann Tenholder of Warrensburg, Missouri, Wilma Seaton of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, Andrea Kantner of Independence, Missouri, Ruth Rundle and husband Bryan of Minnesota, Kathy McLerran and husband Tom of Keithville, Louisiana, Patty Carter and husband Steve of Clinton, Missouri, Linda Lewis and husband Kenny of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and Brenda Carter and husband Ron of Hermitage, Missouri; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred in 2004; one brother, John Kantner; and one sister, Barbara Kantner.



Obituary - Michelle VanDyke

Michelle VanDyke, 57, of Calhoun, Missouri passed away Wednesday morning, October 3, 2018 at her Among surviving is her husband, Rick VanDyke of the home.

Leeton man arrested on Henry County Warrants

On October 3, 2018, at 9:56 p.m., in the 200 block of W. Summerfield in Leeton, Johnson County Narcotics Detectives arrested Tony Everts, age 37, of Leeton, on a 24 hour investigative hold for felony resisting arrest, a felony Johnson County warrant for stealing, with a $300.00 cash only bond, a felony Henry County warrant for 2nd degree burglary, with a $15,000.00 cash or surety bond, and two felony Pettis County warrants for failing to appear on original charge of possession of a controlled substance, with a $50,000.00 cash or surety bond and stealing, with a $10,000.00 cash or surety bond.

He was booked into the Johnson County Missouri Jail.


Cedar County authorities searching for jail escapee

STOCKTON, Mo. -- The Cedar County Sheriff's office is searching for a man who escaped from jail.

Deputies say Milton Sparks escaped early Thursday. 


He's described as a white male who is 5' 10" with dirty blonde hair.

Mr. Sparks was being held on first-degree burglary charges. If you see him, call 911 immediately.

Warsaw man killed in Benton County Fatality Accident

On 10/4/18 around 10:36am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Benton County along with Benton County Sheriff's Deputies and Warsaw Fire Department responded to a two vehicle accident on Route MM just north of Ironwood Avenue.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Toyota Echo driven by 78 year old Donald A. Evans of Warsaw, Missouri failed to negotiate a right hand curve and traveled into the southbound lane and struck the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado driven by 56 year old Larry J. Roberts of Warsaw head on.

Donald A. Evans was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident around 11:01am by the Benton County Coroners Office. He was transported to Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. 

Larry J. Roberts along with a passenger in his vehicle 80 year old Doris M. Roberts both sustained moderate injuries in this accident and both were transported by ambulance to Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Tollivers Tow.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 56th Fatality accident of 2018.

Adrian woman escapes injury in Cass County Crash

On 10/4/18 around 3:45pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle accident on Missouri 291 Highway just north of 231st in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 65 year old Patricia S. Ragsdale of Adrian, Missouri fell asleep at the wheel and traveled off the right side of the roadway and through a fence. Driver attempted to return the vehicle to the road but struck a oil pipeline vent which cause the vehicle to abruptly come to rest.

Patricia S. Ragsdale refused medical treatment at the scene of the accident. The vehicle was towed by Johnson's Tow of Harrisonville, Missouri.
