Drexel man arrested in Bates County

On 10/7/18 around 1:48am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 57 year old Michael E. Thomas of Drexel, Missouri.

Mr. Thomas was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and placed on a 12 hour detox hold.

Obituary - Harley C. Jackson

Harley C. Jackson, 97, Harrisonville, Missouri died Friday, October 5, 2018 at his home in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. 

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. 

Contributions may be made to the Harrisonvillle United Methodist Church. A complete obituary will be added when it becomes available.


Potential Rain Totals through 7pm Wednesday

This morning 2 to 3 inches of rain fell across NW Missouri and NE Kansas with many areas south of that receiving 1 to 2 inches.Several rounds of rain are expected between tonight and Wednesday night which could bring an additional 2 to 4 inches of widespread rain to the area. This would lead to river flooding along some area rivers (including the Missouri) as well as the chance for localized flash flooding. Stay weather aware through the middle of next week!

Amsterdam man injured in Cass County Crash

On 10/6/18 around 2:06am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle accident on Route D just north of 331st Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1998 Ford driven by 21 year old Brian A. Thompson of Amsterdam, Missouri drove off the left side of the roadway and struck a fence and utility pole.

Mr. Thompson sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville for treatment.

The Ford was totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson's Tow.

Arkansas man arrested in Bates County

On 10/5/18 around 7:53pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 63 year old Keith L. Felkins of Craighead, Arkansas.

Mr. Felkins was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Careless and Imprudent Driving.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and placed on a 12 hour detox hold.
