Obituary - Shirley Herrman

Memorial services for Shirley Herrman will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

 Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Schowengerdt Chapel. Inurnment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Bates County Museum of Pioneer History. Online condolences, www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Shirley Faye Herrman, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Butler, Mo, passed away October 4, 2018. Shirley was born August 18, 1935, to Ellis and Lavilla Sims Smith at their farm home in Rural Bates County. At the age of four, Shirley’s father died; so, with her mother and two older brothers, the family left the farm and moved to Butler.

Shirley is survived by her son, Dr. Bret Herrman and wife, Dr. Brenda Herrman of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren Cary Herrman of Los Angeles, California and Marina Herrman of Springfield, Missouri; an aunt, Betty Robey of Butler, Missouri; sisters-in-law Georgianna Smith of Springfield and Maxine Odneal of Kansas City; as well as many other cousins and friends who will miss her greatly. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; two brothers, Charles and Donald Smith; her stepfather and two stepbrothers.



High water rescue in Miami County Kansas

UPDATE: All occupants have been rescued without injuries.

The Miami County Sheriffs Office and the Osawatomie Fire Department are on scene at 347th and Hedge Lane on a water rescue. Two vehicles are submerged in high water. 

The occupants of one vehicle were able to escape. The occupants of the second vehicle are being rescued. No injuries currently.

Kansas City woman arrested in Bates County

On 10/7/18 around 2:02pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 32 year old Brittany K. Nolan of Kansas City, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.)Possession of a Controlled Substance 2.) Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.

Brittany K. Nolan was booked into the Bates County Jail and later released.

Obituary - Linda L. Spotz

Linda L. Spotz, age 56, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on September 30, 2018 in Kansas City, Missouri.

A visitation will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at First Baptist Church. 116 S Washington St, Raymore, MO 64083. Funeral service to follow at 2:30pm.

Linda was born to Montie L. Lungstrum & Helen L. Stubbs on November 13, 1961 in Olathe KS.

Linda was an avid writer & scrapbooker. She loved spending time with her family, watching cooking shows, playing with her dog Bella, researching genealogy, & singing karaoke.

Linda is preceded in death by her father & step-mother Montie & Vernetta Lungstrum.

Linda is survived by her life-long love Kevin Spotz; Children: Amy Mann & husband Otis, Becky Quatrocky (Tony), Teresa Mayes (Mark), Matthew Spotz, Andrew Spotz (fiancé Heather), Rachel Spotz, & honorary daughter Crystal Bruton; Grandchildren: Ethan, Corbin, Austin, Kameron, Alyssa, Katie, Alex, Molly, & Ryan Jr; Siblings: Ruth Ann Thompson, Marilyn Salazar, Michael Lungstrum, Terry Meyer (Bruce), Danny Gunter.
